Samsung UN55D7000 translucent horizontal flickering bar?

Good morning! I have a samsung un55d7000 that has developed a flickering grey semitransparent bar across the middle of the screen - about 4" - 5" tall. It "flickers" like a florescent light trying to start (I know there are no florescent in it...only thing I could compare it to). The image still displays through it / moves behind it. Is this a Panel, backlight, or board issue? Fingers crossed its something OTHER than the panel failing.... I haven't had a chance to pull it apart yet -we just moved into our new house and my workbench is still a massive drop zone of crap.

    Thoughts from the group?

    Thanks!

Can you take a picture of the problem?
Did I leave the soldering iron on?

Yessir - will post tonight! Also found a "fast track troubleshooting" doc that I'm going to try as soon as I get home.

      Thanks.

OK - so - I got home - and went into the service menu, ran the Genoa-P test pattern, when I got to the solid white pattern...the bar was evident for about 1 second, then when away. Screen looked perfect! I continued through all the patterns in Genoa-P and Napoli - the bar never came back. I did a factory reset anyway, tv looked great. Powered it off and on a few times - no issue! Came back a few hours later, bar was there when I first turned it on, then went away after a few seconds. NATURALLY it was there when I didn't have my phone on me so I didn't get a pic. Any thoughts? I'll try again tonight to get a pic - will make sure to have phone ready when I turn on set....

Does the bar have a sharp focal point or does it kind of blend in with the rest of the screen? Right now I'm trying to determine if this is an alley D backlighting problem or a problem with the actual LCD panel. You say it's translucent, does it look brighter or darker in that area?

Thanks for that martino. If I am understanding this TV's design - it's edge lit. And since the dark is on both sides equally, am I correct that I would need to replace both backlight strips? Is it common for both to go out in the exact same section at the exact same time?

That's a good question,im not sure if it has leds on both side or just one side.

From what I can tell it's both sides. I can't find a breakdown of it - but Ebay has both sides listed.

I think your right, strips both sides. Now for both sides to go out in exact same spot would be a bit unlikely, unless they wired left and right sections in parallel.
Before you disassemble the panel,it might be wise to measure the led outputs first.

One of these is your power supply board?

Both boards show 4 boost converter circuits for the LED power supplies.
It is important that you provide good clear pictures of the whole backside of the TV showing all the boards.
Also straight shot pictures of YOUR whole power supply board, and closed up pictures of the LED connectors so we can see how many LED strings are being used in your TV version.

@Martino - good thought - I didn't think about them wiring them together. If they did that could point to a bad board. @BudM - I'll try to get my bench cleared or worst case use a bed or folding table so I can disassemble and take a look shortly - probably be Friday before I have a chance.

Thanks to you guys for sharing your knowledge and helping me sort this! You rock!

                            by mrsith
                            Hello again good souls.

Got an UE70TU7100. The TV starts up just fine, but right hand side of the screen is horizontal striped a bit, and there are some flickering horizontal lines on the whole length of the screen. I've seen similar static horizontal lines sometimes, when applying the cut tape method and covering wrong number of pins.

I've cleaned every connector with ipa, tried cut tape method on main LVDS ribbon as well as small ribbons, connecting the panel boards at the bottom. Tried squeezing the bezel and playing around COFs, but no reaction at all. COFs and...

Samsung LC32HG70QQUXEN - vertical and horizontal stripes across the screen
                            by kotel studios
                            Hi,

Just now my Samsung LC32HG70QQUXEN monitor gave up on me. On cold boots I get many vertical stripes going across the screen (see the attached picture). After it runs for 1-2 minutes those go away but there are horizontal stripes going across the whole screen no matter of the input and PCs I use. (couldn't take an picture of it since the image size goes to 20MB and the camera doesn't pick them up)

In a video about a 27" monitor with an similar issue the guy removes one resistor and supposedly the entire monitor goes back to life? For sure this fix is only temporary....
