Re: Vizio E420VSE Brown/black strip running down side of tv
By the looks of that picture I'm seeing a lot more problems than just the Brown blotch on the left side. Can you show us a picture of what the TV looks like with an all white picture or a bright scene. I see a subtle dark line going through the center to left of the screen just below center pointDid I leave the soldering iron on? -

Now that I look at the picture again it looks as if that would be part of the image that is portrayed on the screen at the moment. The blotch is not repairable with a replacement tcon board this is either a panel issue or something behind the panel maybe dirt against the backlightsDid I leave the soldering iron on?Comment

I agree that the black blob does look like the panel is suffering from the typical LCD mura problem.Willing to help but I'm no expert.Comment

when you say panel issue what would I be looking to replace to fix the panel? I am not experienced at repairs but I do them on the fly.Comment

Re: Vizio E420VSE Brown/black strip running down side of tv
The panel were referring to the LCD screen itself. It is not replaceable. The cost if you were to find this LCD panel would far exceed the cost of a new TV so therefore I would say probably get a new TV unfortunately.Last edited by freakaftr8; 01-08-2018, 10:37 PM.Did I leave the soldering iron on?Comment

Re: Vizio E420VSE Brown/black strip running down side of tv
Thank you I saw a video on "youtube" and this guy had the same issue on his tv and he took a wooden broom handle and waked the corner of his tv fairly hard where the discolor was and somehow that fixed the issue. Has anyone ever heard of that before?Comment

For this kind of symptom probably not. If the guy whacked to the TV with a broom at all it was probably of intermittent connection to an LEDDid I leave the soldering iron on?Comment

Well, I'm kinda on a roll having fun fixing LED TVs. I have a question for those who have wandered into the arena of fixing your own LED strips. I bought a "cooker" on Amazon whereby it heats the strip so you can extract the LEDs. I successfully rebuilt the 10 of 16 that were bad. BUT - when I put the TV back together at certain times (white screen is really noticeable), I see what I would call a halo effect coming from some of the LEDs. The soldering station discolored the strip where I was working immediately.
Have any of you encountered this and if so what caused it?... -
Vizio e601i-A3 - Has Sound and Display, But No Backlight - Bad Power Supply Board or Bad LED Bulbs ?by Tynan DillI was given this TV from my great uncle. He said it just wouldn't turn on one day out of nowhere, replaced the TV, and gave it to me to possibly fix and use for myself.
Upon bringing it home and plugging it up, it showed a standby light.
I powered it on and without a flashlight, the display showed the "V" but the lighting is very dim, but visible.
The screen seems to blackout and stay black, but with a flashlight I can see the display.
With my Playstation 4 connected via HDMI, and running a game I can hear sound.

by mrtekHi.
picked up another TV. This time is a Vizio M65-C1. TV does not turn on. I had repaired another 60 inch vizio , Bad main board.
When power button is pressed, the Power led indicator on the bottom right, turns for a few seconds and then it fades away. No backlight or Vizio logo on screen. Removed back cover and repeated test.
This is the TV This TV is a little different from the Samsung I have worked on. Power supply is on the Left side, Main Bd is on the right side, T-CON , not in the picture is on the bottom. I am assuming that the boards in the middle are the LED... -
by adelageHi, I am installing a long led strip and I noticed that it frequently flickers slightly, it is not a strong nor regular thing, but it is noticeable and annoying. I have measured the voltage of the mains and it shows some fluctuations, it normally stays at around 226v, but often (every few seconds) drops down to 218/219v), and the flickering happens exactly at the same time. I have measured this at the counter and with every appliance off, so it's not related to the house electrical system, but that's how it comes from the supplier.
I know that the best solution would be to get a voltage... -
by edugimenoHi There!
I'm trying to help my friend who owns a restaurant be just bought.
He has a very long LED strip running along all the walls and columns. The strip is attached facing down 2in above the floor, using a wall panel that ends in a metal rail that finishes the panel underneath
It's stuck using, I guess, the 2 sided tape that comes with the strip
The issue is that like 1/2 of the full length, including 1/2 one wall, another entire wall, and one column, flickers after 4 or 5 minutes ON. Particularly it flashes staying OFF most of the time and flashing ON for 1 tenth... - Loading...
