Vizio D55U-D1 55" LED TV Left Bank LED Blinking

Hey Gents,

Anyone come across this problem where one bank (left bank in my case)of LED backlights blink at startup then stops when the set warms up? My initial thought was that there was a problem with the left side of the LCD panel. I took the back cover off, let the set cool down and fired it up and noticed the left bank of LED strips blinking for about 5 minutes then it stops after the set warms up. This set has two banks of LED, one for left side and one for the right side. The LED driver board has two separate outputs one for left and one for right.

Can we pictures of the whole back side of the TV showing all the boards?
Per shopjimmy, it has 8 LED drivers for 8 strings of LEDs.

The board in the middle is the LED driver. As you can see there is an output for a left bank and one for the right bank!

The left bank pulses at a 1hz rate then stop and works fine after about 5 minutes.

4 SET of LED strips with 4 LED DRIVERS for the left, 4 LED strips with 4 LED DRIVERS for the right. Each set of the strip is controlled individually. Each set of LED string is controlled to give Zone control dimming effect.
It has two power supplies, one for 4-LED set of LED strings.
So are you saying all 4 sets of the LED strings are flickering in one side?
You can try new LED driver board.

yes, all LEDs are pulsing on the left bank. I have not tried a new driver yet, just wanted to see if anyone else has run into this problem!

For $15 board, that will be the lowest cost to try unless you will want to troubleshooting that board down to component level.

Yeah, I've been trained on component level repair thought it's been a while. I may do a little more digging before buying a new board, thanks

Just try heating up the power supply (Boost converter) section that drive one set of the LED sets with hair dryer, it may be just bad caps that has high ESR and then ESR goes down after warm up so the circuit start working again.

It's not the LED driver, the pinout for the left and right output on the driver board are the same. I swapped the LED banks, put the left bank on the right output and vise versa, the problem followed the left bank LEDs. Time to pull the panel and see whats up.

That is strange to have all four sets of LEDs to be bad at the same time, I have some doubt about that, may be you will find out more when you take the panel apart.
