Samsung PS58C7000YM Cycling menus and settings automatically (Video included)

Here is the video of the issue:
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X7SwdDaF16o

This still happens when the batteries are removed from the remote so I don't believe its that. Sometimes it is very frequent, as in the video, and other times it barely happens at all (opens the menu once after a half hour).

Often when I turn it on it's put itself into Store Demo mode.

    Can this be fixed?

If you need any more information please ask.

(Can't seem to find an edit button)

I have now updated the firmware and the issue is still there.
I've also noticed that while its doing it, the standby light is flickering lots as though its receiving input.

It's a touch sensitive board, and it's pressing various buttons. I've tried wiping the area.

disconnect the capacitive touch pad after the tv is on and see if it remains stable afterwards.

Could you explain how to do that? I can't see which to unplug on the diagram

Here is a photo of the TV

and here is the "Fast track troubleshooting guide" which includes the diagrams.

ive just looked at the fast tracjk guide it looks like it maybe connector cn1601 cable you may need to remove (wait for someone else to confirm this is the correct cable) once the set is powered on just be careful you dont short anything as will damage the mainboard etc

here is a first step. disconnect the lvds cable that runs between the control board and the main. it is the orange ribbon cable.

on the control board, there is a set of 4 pins near the top right hand side. jumper pins 3+4 together. a hard drive jumper fits perfectly.

apply power and you should have clean test patterns on the screen.

this will eliminate the main board and everything attached to it.

So far its not turning on. There's no standby light.

                      Is that correct?

EDIT: The standby light came after just leaving it alone for a while (that could be an issue there). I turned it on with the remote and it's cycling through colours which I guess is the test pattern you mentioned. Video coming.

EDIT EDIT: Here's the video (The horizontal bars on the white screen at the start were not visible to the eye, just a camera thing I think)

so that must mean its a mainboard or button board issue as the test patterns are ok.

now, reconnect the main, power the set up, and then disconnect the button board. looks like it is the lowest connector on the left hand side of the main board and see if it remains on stable on just one screen.

Do i keep the 2 pins connected?

And is it safe to be touching things while it's powered?

everything hooked up in the original condition.

you are fine as long as you don't go touching anything on the primary side of the power supply, and the vs caps can give you a solid punch as well, but there are no high voltages on the main board.

I unplugged the IR and it was looking good. Before unplugging it, the menu-cycling was really quite erratic so I left it alone to really be sure.

Unfortunately it turned itself off after only 10 minutes or so. It looks like the IR might be one issue and then an additional issue.

is the ir on a separate pcb, or is it on the button pcb?

measure the voltage on the harness that goes to button board and check to see which/how many lines seem to be fluctuating.

on the back of the button board, there are several caps and resistors, as well as a control ic. i suspect that one of the caps is failing.

if you heat the button board with a hair dryer, does the problem get worse?

you say it turned off after 10 minutes did you have a Ariel or hdmi attached etc as maybe turning of due to no signal screen timeout etc

I was worried about that too. I've got it casting this time so I'll let it go again and see how it goes.
