Re: Pioneer Kuro PDP-LX5090 buzzing and crackling
Hello folks, sorry to revive an old thread.
My KRP 500A has started the same issue. While I was gaming it just began with the noises. I only have 7K hours on it. I have ordered the strips linked in this thread but it will take weeks before it arrives I gather as im in EU. Is it ok I have the tv on couple of hours a day untill its fixed or will it damage the tv etc? Thanks.

Also as previously mentioned, energy save mode 2 seems a necessity for some of them.Leave a comment:

Re: Pioneer Kuro PDP-LX5090 buzzing and crackling
Yup. As I mentioned earlier in the thread, it seems some just do buzz more than others. One I had later on had the EMI strips in perfect condition but was louder than the one I replaced them on. If you read through you'll see I did dunk the vsus transformer in varnish before I figured out the strips were bad which may have contributed a little to quietening that one. I guess some of us were hoping this would be a magic solution to making our Kuros super quiet but it looks like it may only help in some of the cases.
How does the buzz volume compare to when you had the frame off?
Glad it helped out with the static sound at least.

Re: Pioneer Kuro PDP-LX5090 buzzing and crackling
ok replaced the strips and put back together the tv
the static sound has completely gone. Thank-you
It still buzzes fairly loudly, seems to be coming from the coils at the back of the unit, is there any solution for this?Leave a comment:

Re: Pioneer Kuro PDP-LX5090 buzzing and crackling
You can cut the ends straight so they meet a bit more flush but I wouldn't overlap as it would end up too thick. Just try to get them to meet up nice and close without a gap. It's not too difficult.Leave a comment:

Re: Pioneer Kuro PDP-LX5090 buzzing and crackling
ok received the strips they are the same ones you linked.
how do i apply them? they are 30 cm long and they are not cut straight.
do i cut them straight? do i overlap them so there are no gaps?

most of the strips are hollow, if i push down hard enough i get conductivityLeave a comment:

Re: Pioneer Kuro PDP-LX5090 buzzing and crackling
Probably yes. Without the frame there is nothing to arc to. On mine the foam inside the strip was obviously deteriorated and the strip looked hollow is how I would describe it. But also you can take a multimeter on continuity/diode/ohms mode and measure between the surface of the strip and the metal frame at various points. You should get a beep or low ohms all the way along. If not it's not conducting well and should be replaced.Leave a comment:

Re: Pioneer Kuro PDP-LX5090 buzzing and crackling
when i pull off the metal frame on all sides there is no crackling sound and there is way less buzz. emi strip doesnt look degraded but does look flattened out a bit (never done this before)does that mean it needs new emi strip?is it the same strip you linked? thanksLast edited by Matcat; 02-23-2018, 06:34 AM.Leave a comment:

Re: Pioneer Kuro PDP-LX5090 buzzing and crackling
The ones along the bottom? Unscrew the screws maybe half way and then pull the screw to pull the little plug out with it. The ones on the top should release easily once the bezel is lifted to the required angle.Leave a comment:

how do the clips come out, do i just pull them straight out? i dont want to break anything.Leave a comment:

Re: Pioneer Kuro PDP-LX5090 buzzing and crackling
Remove the four screws/plugs along the bottom edge of the bezel plus two long screws that go through the back of the TV into the bezel at either end of the TV (prob already removed if back is off). Then you have to hinge the whole bezel up from the bottom to about 30 degrees and it will come off the clips at the top. I'm assuming it's the same as the 9G models I've worked on. Otherwise if you can get the service manual it should have instructions.Leave a comment:

Re: Pioneer Kuro PDP-LX5090 buzzing and crackling
You need to take off the front plastic bezel, and then the top edge of the metal frame that overlaps the panel. The EMI strip is attached inside the frame wedged between it and the glass panel. Be gentle with the panel!Leave a comment:

Re: Pioneer Kuro PDP-LX5090 buzzing and crackling
I have a PDP C509A here in Australia that is experiencing crackling/static which seems to be located at the top of the unit and loud buzz. there is no fault in the picture that i can tell. the buzz isn't really noticeable when watching content but the static is. i pulled the back off the unit but cannot find any emi strips. have not seen static but but is clear to hear. do i have to pull it apart further to reveal them? the previous owner told me he messed with the service menu but i am unsure of what he did or if he changed anything. can anyone help?Leave a comment:

Re: Pioneer Kuro PDP-LX5090 buzzing and crackling
This thread has helped me massively; for which I thank you. My 5090 started buzzing like mad. Once I took the front plastic trim off of the screen I could see arcing "fireworks" going on between screen and the metal foam strip. In each corner of the TV there are the screws that hold the whole screen in place. I tightened the screws as they had become looser than ideal. Voila!
Quiet. Perfectly quiet. Over the moon as this is still the best panel I have ever seen.Attached Filesif you find these attachements useful please consider making a small donation to the site

Re: Pioneer Kuro PDP-LX5090 buzzing and crackling
I got hold of another 5090 recently. In great condition and impressively clean inside. It buzzes noticeably louder than others I've worked on (though nowhere near as bad as the one that started the thread). I pulled apart the frame and checked the foam strip and it was almost like new and with good conductivity. So seems like this fix isn't going to help all of them but definitely worth checking the foam if the buzz is bad.Leave a comment:

by pixelcapPioneer Kuro Pro 111FD 8 blink red LED.
I have been trying to solve the power-down 8-blink red LED problem with my Pioneer.
So far I have replaced the power supply board, and the digital assembly board, I have reconnected the ribbons to all boards, ensuring the connections are good. Even though the problem is the 8 red light error and not the more common 8 blue light error code, I had Kcrownie,

This Pioneer Kuro KRP-500 plasma display has an intermittent issue in that it the picture turns black suddenly.
Sound works all the time.
Powerled is on all the time.
This set has a separate control box which for a few years had a similair problem which was fixed by replacing a number of voltage regulators.
Quite a common issue as fas as I know.
Question is: are there more of the notorius voltage regulators also inside the display unit which should be replaced?
Other advice?
There are not a common cause which makes the issue. Can work for two days,... -

by thieI have a Pioneer Kuro KRL-37V LCD TV with a problem. It's about 12 years old and was used as our main TV for about 9 years, it's now
been moved to the guest appartment.
I decommisioned it because after 4-6 years, don't quite remember when exactly, the follwing issue started popping up:
When I power on the TV it initially works fine. As an example I plug in a chromecast and it will play
several hours before the problem begins: a single green pixel will appear on the screen and stay green/become stuck.
If I now switch the TV to a different input channel on which... -
by BushcatI'm starting to re-cap a Pioneer PL-X9 turntable, specifically the motor control board, because although everything tests out OK according to the service manual, the speed wavers slightly despite the quartz lock light remaining on. So, I've decided to re-cap that board since it's the cheapest next step...
Pioneer's passive component naming convention is clear to me. For example, CSZA R22M 35 is tantalum, radial leads, 0.22uF, 20%, 35V.
BUT there are two capacitors on the board which have actual Pioneer part numbers: PCL-042. I can tell they are 0.1uF, 16V but don't...-
