    Panasonic plasma tv TH-42PY800H - intermittent half screen black

    This TV survived the red screen issues a few years back thanks to the fix suggested by this forum.

    Recently it's started to show black screen on the right half intermittently. I tried to re-seat the LVDS cable and some other cables on and around the A board but the problem has become more random.

    As the D board is behind the A board, I couldn't reach those ribbon cables there. Would they be the culprits? Or is there any other thoughts?

      Could be panel , could be d board or mainboard.....

      Please provide some pictures!
      I only repair Panasonic plasma tv's! Currently owning a TX-P55VT50 and still searching for a ZT60!

          Here's a pic of the symptom. The whole right half is black at times.

                  Looks like the lvds cable or its connectors is at fault. Anyone know where to get a replacement?

                      Nah not the connectors. Half screen is black , i would say mainboard or d board. D board is the small board behind the mainboard , the red connector goes to the d board.

                      What happens when you apply pressure on the heatsink?
                      I only repair Panasonic plasma tv's! Currently owning a TX-P55VT50 and still searching for a ZT60!

                          I tried to put pressure on one end of the LVDS cable. At a certain angle/position, the problem can be fixed. Once I leave it, the problem comes back.

                                  My Panasonic Plasma model P55VT50 has started displaying "interference" on just the left half of the screen only (left when facing the screen). Sometimes it's concentrated in about the first 30 seconds after startup, then disappears. Other times it's fine at startup and then randomly does it later on. When it flashes the interference it's very quick and doesn't stay on the screen unless it flashes repeatedly in a row.



                                  This image is a screen shot from a video I took. This is an example of the interference at its worst. Often the interference is much smaller...

                                  I hope someone on this forum can assist me.
                                  I have a panasonic TH-42PC77U plasma television.
                                  the lower 1/2 of the screen has become flaky....in and out, then finally goes black and you can only see the top portion.
                                  i have performed the reset to default settings quite a few times. Panasonic recommended..did not believe this would help...it didn't.
                                  I have removed the back panel and looked around for something obvious...burn marks in a board, etc....nothing obvious...
                                  I have read some posts that suggest the problem is related to the boards on the left...

                                  Stopped by this site trying to fix my parents Panasonic Plasma TV.

                                  Model number is TH-50PZ85U

                                  Power comes on and the red power light stays on solid.

                                  Did a few checks like hold the power button on for 60 seconds, hold the - Volume while holding the menu button, no luck, still@ blank grey screen as the screen lights up very vague.

                                  I also hear a few clicks.

                                  I also think my parents said there was a thunderstorm and the TV failed after that.

                                  Section 6 in the service manual talks about power and no screen,...

                                  Hi,

                                  Trying to work out if this is TFT problem or TCon issue.
                                  The TV powers up but the top half of the screen, from the right it is OK, but as you look across to the left halfway across it starts get duller and duller until it is very dark on the lefthand side, currently I trying to clean the remote as it seems to have something film wise on the pads stopping it from registering buttons pressed.

                                  Also when changing the screen size of Windows PC display to say to a smaller pixel sizewindow, the original window displayin the top left stays/takes a few seconds to disappear?...

                                  Hello everyone, I’ve just been given a Samsung UE55JU6800K smart tv as it had white spots on the screen due to the led lenses falling off. After refitting them & putting the tv back together I thought it was a nice easy fix for a free bedroom tv , then I tried it before screwing the back into place. I realised that the right side of the screen was darker than the other side, I removed the screen again as I thought the backlights had failed but they are fine.
