Okay, so this thing has decided to be the biggest little shit of the century.

It has the common problem of the heatsink material melting, shorting the output sound IC and causing a no sound condition. You'll hear a mini pop sound upon turn on that indicates this condition is here.

Well, I replaced the pad, cleaned the circuit board till it was SPOTLESS. Using Acetone, CorrosionX, Alcohol, and CRC QD electronics cleaner. Literally nothing will stop this madness. I have resoldered each pin under a microscope using a needle point soldering tip and a very hot soldering iron, 400C. So, after all of that, it still makes a little pop and produces no sound.

The customer has indicated that after a chromecast was used, the audio never worked after that.

Can someone point me to what I should do? The IC is very cheap and I can replace it no problem. I don't want to because fuck all of those pins.

Update to this:

Magic smoke released itself from the mainboard. Turns out there was ANOTHER one of these shitty pads on the bottom of it, a SMD resistor smoked itself and the pad had melted itself onto many other components of the board. Basically, board's fucked. It's cheaper to replace it entirely than to waste the labor on trying to fix it any further. Getting a fresh board for this unit and going to fix it from there.

Just buy a new TV - this whole thing seems like a shitload of fuck (just like the AVGN always says). I had a Samsung (samsuck/samshit/samsham) DLP TV and it was working OK until - boom - it's out. Lamp, color wheel, inverter, DLP chip and all boards are fine. Ended up spending so much money on it. I returned all the parts, got my money back, took the thing to the back porch and threw bricks at it then rolled it to the curb, All that was left was a pile of glass and plastic and metal. It was from 2008. At the mid day point, it was cloudy out and I really wanted a projection TV. Walked outside and just down the road is a nice big 2004 Sony LCD projection TV. Hauled it home, thing works. Neat.


So, almost all the new Sony TVs like this are crap. Garbage. Made by some Chinese company.
