    Sceptre X505BV-FHDU8HJ1L01

Hi guys, I was hoping to get some help. I got this Sceptre TV I'm hoping to fix and give my daughter and her spouse. I was hoping it was just the power supply but it's hard to say, I think I got a bad board. The voltages I got are as follows:
    Plug. Reading
    +5V. 0V
    +5V. 0V
    PS-ON. 0V
    +5VSB. 4.49V
    +5V. 0V
    +5V. 0V
    GND
    GND
    12+V. 0V
    12+V. 0V
    JP13. 0V

    PLUG
    24+V 0V
    24+V. 0V
    GND
    GND

    PLUG
    VBL+ 0
    VBL+ 0

    GND
    VCC. 0
    CNT. 0
    PT. 0
    FB1. 0.2
    FB2. 0

    PLUG
    BL-ON. 0
    ADJ. 0

You need to jumper the 5VSB to PS_ON using a 1K resistor with mainboard disconnected and then measure the voltages again.
To test the backlights connect as above but with the additional of a second 1K resistor between 5VSTB and BL-ON
Willing to help but I'm no expert.

I will check that as soon as I get a resistor, THANKS

I'm sure you are going to say, ugh this guy doesn't remember a damn thing, but I just want to make sure I don't mess up anything else than what is the original problem LOL

so I jump from power supply board 5VSB to the cable plug PS_ON, correct?

With mainboard disconnect from power supply; yes.

Only change is 5VSB 5.26volts now
              No backlights
              No front led
              No other voltages present

That does look as though it's a bad power supply. Can you post a good picture of the underside of the power supply. Can't find a schematic for it so may be a difficult one to fault find.

There are a lot of RJ resistors on the underside of the board. With the set off, check with your meter set to ohms, that they read 0 ohms or close enough.

With the set on, what dc voltage do you have on D22 & D23, black probe to chassis.

Ok so in my frustration and non patient self. I turned in the power supply board that I thought was non-functioning and received another. It didn't fix it.
                            I admit that I couldn't find D22 or D23 anywhere. I found D21, but not the others.

The initial replacement and the new replacement don't have any voltage anywhere. I'm going to email the vendor and cut my losses there

So since I felt I wasn't getting anywhere with the power supply I decided to get a main board.... It fixed it. I'm guessing a return signal wasn't getting back to the power supply.

Thanks Dick Barton for the help!!

I am trying to repair this modular ATX PSU. It only has the 5V Standby and PSON enabled (3.33V).

PSON is delivered by (ST9S429-PG14) in pin4. This chip is a Voltage controller but it doesn't seem to trigger any PWM signal to pass it to primary through coils and "move" the big mosfets. Also next to it there is a EST7618 that it also seems a voltage controller.

Not sure if in the right direction, but trying to find where PWM signal is generated.

Trying to fix a backlight problem with a Sceptre 48" TV.

I found replacement strips with the same part number as the strips in the Sceptre, but the new backlight strips have 5 leds per strip and the ones in the tv has 6.

So I decided to replace the leds instead. I found 3 bad ones. I had no problem removing the bad ones with a heat gun, they came right out. However the leds on the replacement strip would not come out with heat. I use my solder iron as well, they will not come off.

Anyone know how I can remove those leds without damaging them?

                                      Hello all,

I have a Sceptre X505BV-FMDR8HJ1PE8 tv that had been gradually over time taking longer
and longer to come on, now it will no longer display any image. Original symptoms
are the red standby LED would turn to blue immediately when pressing the power on
button, but there would be a delay for the "SCEPTRE" image to appear on the screen
and backlight to come on. The delay kept getting longer, then it would go from blue
LED back to red. Then when I pressed the power on button again it would bring the
                                      display up and work fine....
