    Re: SAMSUNG PN51F5500AF 231v vs

i got a main from pts that was untested for 20usd but it has same symptoms.

symptoms: primed panel, no sound/chime , no logo, test patterns work, 13 blink reset,

the one thing i notice is the chip under the heat sink getting hot unlike my other.

i have found the sems30 on the orginal to have a crack in it , must be from surge

do you mean firmware for the tv or that specific memory chip because i can get the tv firmware!

how do i update the force firmware without a responsive mainboard?

ordered another with returns , im hoping it works this time!

for some reason on the atmlh eprom i get continuity to ground on the 8th pin vcc both ways and get 3. i cant rember v!

i pulled the atmlh off the old board and it's not the chip but on the main.

same goes for both boards but the sems30 is not cracked on the new one.

tried shorting sda to vcc with no luck because i believe there is a short to gound on vcc!

You have a bad main board, the new one is bad, or the LVDS cable is faulty.

The control board part of your main board is still working (I forgot you do not have an LVDS cable.) There are two parts, one which drives the plasma display panel, which is that smaller Samsung processor, and one which drives the HDMI, menu interface, etc. That is the larger processor under a heatsink.

there is 3 on here because it is a smart tv and the one in the center is not producinf heat like the others. the center one is a sdp1005 parma with a winband memory chip

That will be the Frame Rate Converter, it is responsible for 2D to 3D and Frame Doubling (50->100Hz, 60->120Hz, etc.)

just tried fixing my old y sus and it did not work.

i replaced the two TGD30N40 and nothing , reboot loop.

im not sure if the TGD30N40 are fake because i got them for 12 cents a peice from china.

if they are real i don't know what else got taken out but my old x sus still works.

enough screwing around for me today going to watch my tv.

                      sincerely,
                      bman4

ok , i got back to testing a found a short that was not there b4.

it was under the black heat sink witch is even hard to get off with a 120watt Weller gun.

my recommendation is to remove the metal tabs from the heat sink first, not the board !

in order to lift up the heat sink to get to the screws you got to remove a 630 volt red cap.

i tested all these b4 i ordered the parts but guess they shorted after the power up.

the 2 TGD30N40 did not short again!

two rjp63k2 and the one rf1501 have failed short but the rjp30h1 is still good.

                        good night,

When you replace the IGBTs/MOSFETs, it is sometimes necessary to replace the driver ICs around them (the small SMD devices, 8/16 legs)
