Hyundai LCD TV. 5VSB PSU fault, but where to start?

Hi i have this Hyundai 37" LCD TV that had no standby light and was buzzing. Inspection of everything didn't find any dark or burnt components. No capacitors are bulging, all diodes that i could see test fine in diode mode.

The 5V standby line was pretty low. 3.5v and fluctuating. On occasions i found the 12v line to be up and down as well.

To troubleshoot so far i disconnected the 5v line from the mainboard and powered on again. This time, the 5v standby line stayed steady at 5.10v!

Thinking that it was a mainboard fault, i injected 5v into it's standby line with a bench supply and looked for hot components. A 1.8v regulator was burning to the touch. However, right next door to is it was another 1.8v regulator (connected in parallel!). Weird that only one was hot? Some kind of imbalance here with the way they are loaded??? or is it the case that one takes over from the other when current demand goes up? Either way, both regulators were pumping out 1.8v just fine, despite one being pretty hot.

Anyway, clutching at straws i decided to hook everything back up and inject 5v standby from another PSU (a computer ATX psu). Now the TV is working just fine, so it's clear that the 5v standby line on the TV's PSU has a fault?

Now i'm wondering where i can start. What kinds of things can cause a 5v rail to drop and fluctuate like that? It starts about 2v and rises slowly to 3.5, and jumps about. It seems that the instability only happens when the 5v line is loaded. When disconnected from the mainboard, it reads 5v. My bench supply said that the 5v line of the mainboard was drawing about 0.6a @ 5v.

I'm just really interested in electronics. I have plenty of kit because i enjoy learning. Any help would be much appreciated.

    Thanks,
    James.

Need good clear straight on pictures of back of tv with cover off and each board.
I assume no responsibility for any stupid suggestions I might post.

How about a MODEL number, or number from the power supply?
If you replace this part it will fix the problem.

Zombie Samsung UN55NU6900F dead / no standby voltage - randomly came to life after hours of troubleshooting then died
        by tvguy12012012120
This is my first attempt at troubleshooting a board like this, I know I could just buy a new board but I'm curious to figure out how this works. I've been testing different components in the evenings this week and I think the problem is with the IC failing to start up for some reason. When the board is plugged in there is no standby voltage.

Then today it randomly sprung to life like a zombie but shortly died thereafter. I have no idea why it would have done that and its the first time I've seen it running. I discharged capacitors on the board last night, then it was sitting today....

Help please, Line + 5VSB increases the voltage.

Help please, Line + 5VSB increases the voltage.

Hello everyone, receive a cordial greeting.

I have an ATX 500W power source. Chassis Model: LPJ2-23.

It turns out that when measuring the line voltage + 5VSB. After the source is turned on, the voltage gradually increases until it reaches approximately 7.8 vdc.

If I leave it connected to the power but turned off, the voltage remains stable at 5.1vdc. approximate

I thought I was a capacitor in that sector. Then I measured them with the ESR Raptor and they measured me well,...

Tiny Tech ATX480W output power ticking
        by mikey5791
        Hi to all forum members,

This psu (Tiny Tech model ATX 480W) had been installed in a very old Windows XP PC but recently i pulled it out as the pc cannot start. To test it, i jumped the green wire and black wire on the 24 pin connector. The psu fan jerk a bit but not spinning. I used my dmm to check dc voltage on output connector wire, the 5v red wire keeps ticking a bit at around dc1v....then drops and ticking again around 1v. It is the same situation with the 12v yellow wire.

Fyi, i desoldered the secondary side electrolytic cap those over 1000uf...

LG 42LG3000 Strange fault will not go into standby!
        by cheeky2
I have this LG 42LG3000 Tv which operates on all inputs without any issues whatsoever. However when you try to turn the Tv off the screen goes blank as it would normally however it then turns itself back on again!
So far I have replaced the main board without any resolution to the problem.
When the inverters master and slave VIT71053.54 VIT71053.55 are disconnected from the power supply then the TV will turn off as it should (obviously without any ccfl output).
I have read through a few posts for this model without anyone having this issue as far as I can tell.
        I...

Samsung UN50TU8000FXZC shows thin horizontal green line when warm
        by cubytus
        Hi to all,

I was given this TV, an entry-level 4K 50" set. Some have criticized its lack of contrast and relatively poor colour rendering, but for my needs, it's very decent.

I reset everything to factory settings, but this line keeps on fading in and out when watching a streaming channel from the Tizen firmware. Interestingly, it only happens when TV is warm, after about 1h45 of it being turned on.

Watching a movie from an external source doesn't trigger the line as easily (needs 2 hours), and from a normal viewing distance, is hardly noticeable. It...
