    LG 60PX950UA Main board issue

Through the help of the forum, I believe I have a bad main board. Back story.
TV turns on, panel primes, but has no video. Sound works fine along with remote controls.
I jumped the CTRL board at R51 and R52, and unplugged the ribbon cable going to the main board and was able to get the Test patterns to display.

Scowering the internet ive been unable to find the board in stock anywhere. I have found 2 places that say they can be repaired (unless the cant then they offer a refund).

Im wondering if there is anyway to figure what has failed myself, save some money and learn a few things in the process.

The tv was given to me from a friend, who had replaced the Y-sus and the lower Y Buffer and had given up on it.

Any input would be appreciated! Thank you guys!

BGA chip under that large heat sink? Knowing its a LG prob a reflow of that chip solves it.
Also those barrel shaped caps can be suspect although I'd think you would get more of a intermittent fault.

So should I pop off the heat sync and solder the joints together? Oven method?
      Heat gun?

Re: LG 60PX950UA Main board issue

Is there a way to tell if the small board between the ctrl board and the main board is at fault? Or does doing the test pattern rule out that small board?

Heat up the heatsink to make it easier to remove
wipe the BGA chip surface with some smear of oil or Teflon spray
Place a small c shaped piece of solder on the BGA chip
Heat with a heat gun slowly until the solder melts
works every time I have done this ,this assumes its the BGA chip issue and not something else

Heat the chip thoroughly with a hair dryer then test the set for video to make sure this is your problem.

It's not a guaranteed permanent fix but unless you know anyone who could reball the BGA chip it's really all you can do.

Help Needed: Samsung UE55MU8000 Dead - Possible Main Board Issue
                  by Asraf Atb
                  Hi everyone,

Im looking for some advice regarding my Samsung UE55MU8000 TV with main board model BN94-11606C. The TV suddenly stopped turning on and now shows no signs of life at all not even the standby light at the bottom.

Initially, I suspected an issue with the PSU, so I took it to a repair center. They tested it and confirmed that the PSU works perfectly, even on other TVs. Based on that, I started investigating the main board.

I disconnected the main board from the PSU, and the backlight turned on, which seems to confirm the main board is the issue....

Hi and thanks in advance for any input you might provide!
I have a Sceptre U550CV-UMRD8POTV83BB 4K LED (this is a dumb tv) that I bought new in August 2021, so It's just completed 3 years.

Last Sunday I was watching a dvd and fell asleep for about half hour, when I awoke the tv screen was black and couldn't get the dvd menu to show, so I changed the input to antenna and had sound but no picture, turned it off. I then got online and found this great site! ....read many troubleshooting tips and this...

Is it possible to upgrade from a Vestel 17MB97 main board to a 17MB110 Main board?
                  by cheeky2
I suppose the real question is whether the existing pinouts from ether a 17IPS71 psu are cross compatible with a 17IPS12 psu? If they are then the exchange of the main boards should have no issues providing the screen is compatible with both main boards. Obviously you can change the screen configurations easily enough (providing you have the correct files) for the main board. Why may you ask would I do this? Well a lot of the smart features are no longer working on a Hitachi 48HBT62U main board I wish to give it a new lease of life!
Obviously the same LVDS connector for the screen connection...

Vizio e601i-A3 - Has Sound and Display, But No Backlight - Bad Power Supply Board or Bad LED Bulbs ?
                  by Tynan Dill
I was given this TV from my great uncle. He said it just wouldn't turn on one day out of nowhere, replaced the TV, and gave it to me to possibly fix and use for myself.

Upon bringing it home and plugging it up, it showed a standby light.

I powered it on and without a flashlight, the display showed the "V" but the lighting is very dim, but visible.

The screen seems to blackout and stay black, but with a flashlight I can see the display.

With my Playstation 4 connected via HDMI, and running a game I can hear sound.

                  Assuming...

Sony RB2G Chassis KDL-55W815B MAIN BOARD 2 Blink Error issue resolved! Happy days :)
                  by cheeky2
For anyone interested just repaired this Sony Main board TV that had a 2 blink error code, the chassis is a RB2G which is common to quite a few different Sony models. The Ceramic 10uF 25V X7R 1206 capacitor C9114 was shorted which took the smd 2A 0603 fuse out F9101. This was powering the Buck converter TPS54332 which caused no 5V output from it.
See the attached picture of the locations of both components. I also attach the best service manual I found for this board for anyone else in a similar position of trying to repair this main board. It's not specific to the TV model however it gives...
