Toshiba 46XV500A Wont Turn on

Hi,

Yesterday my Toshiba 46XV500A TV was working when all of a sudden the picture went blank. I tried to turn the tv off using the remote and it didnt respond to the remote. So I tried the buttons on the side, Power button wouldnt work, nor did the input or menu button. So I turned the tv off at the wall, left it off for a minute then turned it back on, Red light came on, press the power button on the tv and the green light lit up and the back light but there was no picture and once again it didnt respond to button presses from the side panel or remote. So I turned it off at the wall for a few hours. Turned the Tv back on at the wall and now all I get is a red light. Doesnt even try to turn on when the buttons are pressed on either the remote or side panel.

I have taken the back off the tv and visually there is nothing damaged or signs of wear on components. Can some help me from here please, would like to get it going again.

Pictures of rear view so we could see boards lay-out and close up shots of the boards, since you already have the back off.

I have uploaded the 2 power supply boards, the main pcb. The other little one has a metal cover over it, the only reason I have taken it off is because when I apply power to the tv it makes a high pitch noise.

Sounds like a power board problem and you will now have to check and record all voltages on connectors as per markings as well as between legs of main capacitor near a.c. input. All voltages dc.

So we did some testing of the main power supply board and the only power the meter detects is 5v on the connector on the left hand side of the board down near the smaller heatsink just above the 2 relays.

How do i test the main capacitor? and is it the really big one in the middle of the board?

Yes but as you have apparently 5v standby it is probably ok and it does seem likely power on is not activating so you will need to check that as per posts herein with main board disconnected.

Did you check those 3 white ceramic power resistor on the bottom left corner of the main power supply board (the green board) next to the two black relays?
How about the red round fuse T2AL_250V, and small glass fuse on the top right?
