Of course! Why didn't I think of that sooner!

Ah, I think you might be right. Can't believe I didn't think to try that earlier, but it does indeed power on and run just fine with the backlights disconnected. Looks like I'll be exploring that as the next plan of action with this thing.

      Replaced bad backlights!

Backlights indeed. Replaced a couple strings, and this one is back in operation.

Re: RCA LED50B45RQ LCD Flatpanel powers off right away

Didn't want to start a whole thread for what is hopefully a super easy question. I've got a RCA LED55C55R120Q TV and the backlights have recently stopped working. Everything I've seen here indicates it is most likely bad LED's in this model, but I was hoping to verify before opening the TV. I have a RE46HQ1640 power supply. When I turn on the TV the backlights fire for a split second, then go off. If I measure from LED+ (either one) I get a top voltage of about 130VDC as the backlights flash, then it rapidly decays to 0V over about 35 seconds. The LED- give me a reading of 48.6mv which could just be meter error. If I unplug the LED connector and power up the board, I get 230V on the LED+ terminals and the same 48mv on the LED-. I don't have the test equipment beyond a multimeter.

Is this what the power supply would act like if I had 'bad leds'?

Oh an occasionally the backlights will actually come on but rarely. I haven't been able to reproduce yet to test voltages in that state.

I would say open circuit in led's. Bad led or bad connections
I assume no responsibility for any stupid suggestions I might post.

Acer Nitro 5 AN515-55-55M1 [GH51G mb] powers on, no vcc_core
            by malogro
            Hello all,

I'm stumped on this guy, so wanted to see if anyone has any further ideas:

            Intro:

This is an Acer Nitro 5 AN515-55-55M1 with unknown prior history (bought "as-is" on eBay). It charges the battery and powers on from both AC adapter and battery, so I think this rules out main power issues.

Upon attempt to boot, it will "reboot" (meaning powers down and then powers on again) only once, and then stays stuck in a status of lights on / no post / no monitor. Powering on with fn+esc maxes out the fans on first boot attempt,...

I searched for this model but nothing comes up...

            Result: Issue still persists
            Additional Observations:

Philips 47PFL4606 Powers on, works normal then powers off after a minute
            by simwalsh
            Hi,
I am new to this forum and have searched for some answers with problems similar to mine.
Philips TV powers on as normal for about a minute or less then click and no power at all not even standby light. If i disconnect from mains and reconnect it will power on again but for a shorter time. Once i leave it disconnected from main for a longer time it will power on for a longer period the next time.

It sounds like a power supply issue?

I have the board out and want to run some tests. Not sure what i should be doing but i put a 1k resistor across SB and +5v...

Vizio D50u-D1 Powers up no picture
            by csmith
I replaced the backlights all good. Two months later set was dead, had a shorted D9100, replaced all good again.
Now months later set powers up,backlights light ok,no picture. 12volts missing from fuse on tcon. 12VA on power
supply is 19 volts. Changed D9100 again, same, 12 volts measures 19. Am I looking at a power supply or mainboard
issue. Set will power up with remote but not power off....
