What type of LED is used in TV

So i wonder is the LED in TV backlight is somehow similar or
    it's specific to TV brand.
How to determine the type of LED i need to replace in my TV backlight if
i choose to replace individual LEDs instead of LED strip from exact TV model ?

[ couldn't find this info anywhere]
    Thanks for help.

I don't know the answer to your question but perhaps flocko, a forum member can advise you. I do know that if they are not matched they will not last and will damage even more leds on the strips.

I usually buy a replacement strip that is matched to the sets model number usually from an Ebay supplier and use the leds to replace the faulty ones in the set using a hot air gun to remove them.
Willing to help but I'm no expert.

      Yeah, the safest way, but
in case i can't find donor strip,
which LED type should i get for tv
to work as usual and some years ?
      And if i give the tv for repairs [ not official service];
which LED they will use for repairs.

I am not aware of an universal replacement led. Some are 3V others are 6V. Some have larger cathodes than anode connections and vice-versa. Even if they look the same and have the same working voltage and current they may not match colour temperature or in physical size.

How can we answer your question, when you fail to tell us the make and model of the set you are working on, is it edge or back lite, without all the info we are at a loss to help . We do not have the skill of mind reading

            Seiki SE50FY10 LED 50' TV

So the exact LEDs can be found in a regular eshop
with the exact voltage/amp and light emiting power, so
gonna work as original/installed from the TV factory ?

Can you confirm the part number on your strips to be IC-A-CNA050D173L/R

Backlight led and information on them is sketchy. I have found some for LG/Vizio but no good replacement for Samsung. Here is a blog explains some. http://alpengeist-tvrepair.blogspot....ces-tools.html
There is no universal led just like no universal FET, cap or resistor.

I assume no responsibility for any stupid suggestions I might post.

I'm afraid to tear down tv to the matrix, even
local services do not want to risk of braking matrix.

Ask if anyone near to you on here would open and repair it for you,I think the AU Optronics T500HVNO1.0/D500D3-GW50-C0X LCD screen is fitted to your model, a sticker on the rear will tell you this, and replacement LED strips are easy to find using the numbers I have given, these are also fitted in some Proscan/Westinghouse/Elements 50", You will find some good tip on here and youtube if you want to give it a go yourself, take your time and make notes and take photos as you strip it,its not working so what can go wrong.

I've opened up to 42" with no big trouble, but I tried a 48" and it was a FAIL. A dead horizontal line appeared after the job. 48 and larger is too big to be opened by a single person, even with experience. But perhaps you're luckier than me.

Re: What type of LED is used in TV

I have replace individual leds on about 2 dozen different sets now and replaced the strips on about as many.... (including the 65" seiki on my wall I rescued from the local dump) there are at least 4 or 5 different actual leds out there used in these lcd tvs and therer are many more different types of strips. when I replace just the actual bad leds with my smd rework station theres a 50% chance others will just burn out soon and its come back to haunt me 3 times now. the reason is when an led shorts closed it increases the voltage to all the other leds on the circuit and causes them to run hotter and brighter than normal. This shortens their life dramatically. if the led short open of the tv has good regulation/protection the leds wont even come on.) they are wired like christmas lights.
That said the best way to repair the set WHEN IT WILL go black is to replace all the leds as a set.

keep in mind these new middle of the road and cheap sets are only designed to last as long as an incandescent light bulb and if you get 3-4000hr out of that seiki before the light goes out your doing well.
Now that they no longer have mercury in them they can fill the landfills guilt free... I actually get many tv from our recycling center that have nothing even wrong with them like a 50" sony bravia smart tv... this year the day after Christmas I picked up 2 that had nothing wrong including a 60" sharp aqoas that had a spot about 1 mm in diameter on the screen from something hitting it.

95% of all the led tv I get each month have failed from led failure especially the LG and LG made vizios with vizios its sometimes a bad eprom or voltage regulator though. often the tvs I get are only about 1-2 years old.

I suggest practicing on some garbage tvs to become comfortable replacing them if it makes you uneasy but it really is easy after doing a few (some sets are more difficult that others and seem to be glued together to prevent repair attempts.)
The edge lite ones are much more reliable from what Ive seen. samsungs leds are better but they still have a lot of board failures.

Also keep in mind you can test the leds by turning the set on with no panel installed It wont hurt it.

Ebay is where I find my replacement strips.. paid $50 for the replacement set in my seiki now.. heres a single row for your set http://www.ebay.com/itm/seiki-SE50FY...QAAOSwdGFYp2~r

I might acually have led strips for your set. I have a 50" element with a broken screen I havent disassembled yet.

I see you say theres four or five diffrent types of leds used in these sets i dont suppose you have pictures/details of them as maybe worth ordering all the diffrent types for stock.
