I can't switch to stby as such as I have no remote for this tv.. I was using the front panel to turn it on initially. The tv was given to me to try and fix as it was totally dead.
When I got it I found that D893 had failed along with transistors Q813 & Q814 I replaced those and got some life into the psu again.. but after 30 seconds of being pleased with my repair it blew the source legs off transistors Q813 & Q814.

By default is is in standby when you plug it in. Is your 5v fluctuating just plugged in?
I assume no responsibility for any stupid suggestions I might post.

Ok... The psu and motherboard are now in the tv again and connected together...The tv is connected to mains and the white front LED is flashing away..

5v is stable now at 5.049v

To test the power supply you disconnect it from the mainboard and connect ST_BY to 0V then power up the set and check all your output voltages.
No remote needed to bring it out of standby. You are bringing it out of standby by shorting ST_BY to 0V.
Willing to help but I'm no expert.

I've actually replaced IC806 too.. And on mine pin 5,6,7 & 8 in relation to gnd are open loop (OL.)

That's what I thought dickb.. But with mine setup like that on the bench my 5v rail is all over the show.

I also have to jump a separate pair of pins that connect to a factory rear panel switch..

I'm always open to any more ideas or suggestions .. I've not given up yet

I'm just hoping that when the source legs were blown off trannies Q813 and Q814 that the pulse didn't get through to the mainboard too

I could just spend £60 and get two second-hand eBay boards but that's not how I like to do things... Well not until all possible options are exhausted anyway

                      Flashing light:

                      1. Firmware/program load error - corrupted NAND or boot flash memory
                      2. Software crash (usually related to 1st error)
                      3. Power supply fault (rare, but can be due to use of wrong power supply, or faulty power supply)

The most common fault is 1 or 2, an actual power board fault causing a blinking LED is quite uncommon.

1 or 2 will require replacing main board or flash chip.

Ah ok.. Thanks for that tom.. That's it then, end of the road! I can swap the SMD stuff no problem.. but I've just not got the appropriate kit for flashing SOIC8 FW... Even if I had the file.

Good timing though.. I've just picked up another PSU on eBay for £12.. At that price even if It doesn't work I'll keep the working parts for spares

                        Thanks all for your help

Thats a good price for a psu as you say ideal for parts etc if does not solve the issue what mainboard does this set use? i wonder if its worth trying to freeze the eeprom/spi flash ic and see if the sets starts up ok.
These are good cheap programmers and easy too use

Thanks vince.. I've actually got hardware for flashing IC's.. Just not the appropriate SOIC8 style adaptors.. Although I guess I could wire it dead bug style with some
twisted pair wire etc. Getting the file is the biggest hurdle though unless someone has it or could pull it from a good chip.

I did try freezing & heating a few of the IC's on the PSU and also the mainboard (which is a 17MB45M-3)... but it made no difference at all. To be
honest I didn't expect it to as nothing was getting hot really.. The only chip that gets even remotely warm (29°C) is IC806.
