2009 LG Plasma 50PS30 Suddenly Problems

Hello. I hardly watch television, which is one of the main reasons why I canceled my Netflix subscription a few months ago. If I'm at home and looking for entertainment, I always go straight for my desktop PC.

Nonetheless, after three or four months of inactivity, I went to my LG 50" Plasma (November 2009, model 50PS30) and switched it on. It was initially OK but maybe 30 seconds later I started getting some flickering in the picture and a duplicate of any image on the screen.

This is not an external connection issue, as it doesn't matter which input I select. It also exhibits the same behavior on the menu.

I removed the rear cover and the front side trim and prodded around trying to see if I could isolate the problem to one specific component or cable. NOPE. Nothing that I tapped or wiggled made any difference. It seems to me as if this television is done for, but what I am most confused about is how could it go bad, just sitting there not being used? The last time I used this television, the picture was working great. Since then it has not been moved or abused, it has just sat there in my living room in a powered down state.

In the past I was given a 46" Samsung LCD television that had an issue with multicolored lines being displayed on the screen. When I removed the back cover, I was able to isolate the problem to one of the boards, as pushing on the board, pushing on the connections, or flexing the board in any direction made the display clear right how. However, this was a problem common with this particular television that led to a broken solder joint of some kind.....I did not end up fixing it, but keeping tension on the board was a temporary solution.)

As with this LG television, there do not appear to be any temporary solutions available as I cannot find anything inside that responds to tapping and prodding.

Any thoughts or ideas would be appreciated. As I already said, I'm just boggled how it would be fine a few months ago and then yesterday it would be terrible.

I would clean and reseat the cables going to the mainboard and see if that changes anything.
I only repair Panasonic plasma tv's! Currently owning a TX-P55VT50 and still searching for a ZT60!

I did not clean any connection with electric contact cleaner, but I definitely disconnected and re-seated all of the connections on the main board. That made no difference at all. Also removed the main board and re-installed on the TV. No change.

I should also note that this television has had life-long issues of compatability with HDMI connected devises. I have NEVER been able to get a picture through any of the three-HDMI inputs, with the exception of DirecTV satellite TV receiver boxes. I tried a multitude of three Blu-Ray players (Samsung, Panasonic, Sony) and none of them would produce any picture through the HDMI inputs of this television, although they worked flawlessly on other televisions.

Seems to be a main-board problem related to HDMI hand-shakes, as I can honestly say that HDMI DID work, but only with the satellite boxes alone. For the past 7 years I have just used component cables instead of HDMI as a work-around solution.

However, this double-image problem I started experiencing yesterday is an entirely new problem.

Sounds like an erase problem possibly so check Ve DC voltage rhs board from rear and see if it agrees with sticker info attached to panel back.

Is there a service manual that you can reference me to for checking the voltages? I do not recall seeing a sticker on the back of the panel. I'm fairly certain that I would have noticed it.

Use google and badcaps and research how to test it plenty about. However I would not say this is a VE issue more likely a bga solder issue on the mainboard. Remove the mainboard and run the test patterns and see if you get the glitching.

Yes it looks more like a double image being generated which points to main or control boards - what is led on control flashing when TV going? Voltages have to be near spot on and vary for every set but vs about 200 Va about 80 and all should be checked as a matter of course.

Anyone offer any advice to solving this problem. 2017 we replaced a board based on advice here and got another 6 years out of this tv set.

It's really apparent in the white colors on the screen.

                  Here is a video

                  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fpSOaGBenLA

I tried to make adjustments to the VS adjust It did clear it up but it hit the voltage limit and reset the tv. There are no broken solder joints and nothing looks visibly bad....

panasonic TH-42PC77U plasma television half screen problem
                  by renech
                  hello,
I hope someone on this forum can assist me.
                  I have a panasonic TH-42PC77U plasma television.
the lower 1/2 of the screen has become flaky....in and out, then finally goes black and you can only see the top portion.
i have performed the reset to default settings quite a few times. Panasonic recommended..did not believe this would help...it didn't.
I have removed the back panel and looked around for something obvious...burn marks in a board, etc....nothing obvious...
I have read some posts that suggest the problem is related to the boards on the left...

                  Hello,
I am having Samsung PS51E550 Plasma TV. While the TV was working, a crackling sound heard & video went off with audio still ON. After switching it off & ON, the red LED on TV blinks six times & then off.
Opened TV cover & observed foll
                  a) Green LED on the small PCB blinks at @5-6sec ON & off for 3-4 secs. Red LED on logic board ON
b)Vs & Va on power supply board raises momentarily to 209v & 58v resp & then drops.
                  c) Cold test on Y-main board shows all 3 pins of FGPF4536 IGBT short to Grnd.
How to confirm Y -Buffer board...

                  Panasonic plasma TX-P42ST50 - 6 blinks
                  by jm1234
                  Hi,
anyone able to provide the service manual for old plasma Panasonic TX-P42ST50E?
It turns off almost immediately (0~5 seconds after pressing the on/off button) and starts flashing the red diode 6 times.
I disconnected the left-hand side board (SC?, both the ribbon cable and the power cable to it) and also another ribbon going to bottom left board. Then the led signal is 8 flashes. According to service guide to another Panasonic plasma it would mean the left-hand side board is faulty. But I'm not sure it 100% applies to my model.
I checked that board for any obvious faults...

                  LG 60PS11-UA 60-inch 1080p Plasma TV-service lit & video help needed
                  by chazh
This is my first posting, so forgive me everyone in advance if I made mistake(s) in my posting.

I know there have been much about this plama tv already and I have read through most what I could find. However; I still have not come across any service lit/schematics for this tv. I even looked for the 50PS11 which would be basically relevant other than display size. Anyone know to find the documentation would greatly be appreciated.

The set that I have has issues with lower third of screen being dimmer than the above portion. From my past experiences with tube, solid state,...
