    SHARP LC-46A77M No power ON

    Dear Experts and members.

I have Sharp LC-46A77M power supply model no: DPS-286AP-1.

After on from wall plug I header something pops, and the power went off with no sign of front power line.

I open the back cover to check if any thing that blow like the IC or any other fused and resistors, but I couldn't find any physical signs of damage, also I check if any DC voltage like the 5V at PD11 also the reading was 0v, I take the power board out for further inspection and I find that R7914 open, also I check if there any capacitor pop up but all looks ok, so I change the resistor R7914 with resistor 2.2ohm 1W.

After I on the power the resistor blow right away as you can see in attach photo.

Hope to hear from you guys for further advice.

The pictures in attach for your further inspections.

    Thank you

      Hi dskall,

      Thank you for your reply,

I already check D7908 & D7909 even before I check R7914 as i was thinking that the Diodes shorted but both of the reading 1 way reading in the right direction, (I check them on the board with out pull them out)

The link you add I cannot go through, said I do not have permission to axes.

      Please advice

      Thank you

Re: SHARP LC-46A77M No power ON

Repair kit states the following so you would need to check the components on your board

Totally dead TV, missing +5V standby on the power supply board; resistor R7914 (to the left of the large transformer TH7600) open.

        Kit contents

        Replacement components for IC7905, R7914, R7918 and D7908.

All components in the kit are brand new. They may be slightly different from the ones on the board, but they are guaranteed functional replacements or improvements over the OEM parts.

Contents may change without notice as we gain more data.

          Dear Dick_barton,

Thank you so much for your reply,

I check the R & D you mentioned and all ok, (of course the only part is not ok at the moment is R7914 because it is blow after I change)the only part that i did not check so far is the IC, I do not know how to check it.

          Would appreciate any support

          Thank you

            It's a TNY264PN
Quickest way to check it, is to replace it.

Thank you so much for your prompt reply,

Will try to replace it and see the results,

also if you can confirm the specification of R7914 as I do not have manual, also if it is ok to use normal resistor 2.2ohm 1W instead of using fuse resistor?

Not: The R7914 that I changed was normal resistor 2.2ohm 1W not fuse resistor like the original as i couldn't find in the city I live in.

              Any support highly appreciated.

You need a higher wattage soldering iron for greater heat and some fresh solder which would tidy up the solder joints. Glad it working.
