Worth noting--the computer I used to connect to HDMI detected the TV as an output whether or not the TV was turned on.

While displaying HDMI on the screen I froze the EEPROM--no apparent change. Shortly after I started chilling the main chip the image cut out, the computer lost the HDMI output, and the TV powered down.

So, it looks like this is a main chip problem. I don't have the equipment to reflow at my apartment, and the only thing I can get my hands on is a heat gun which is a bit barbaric.

It seems odd to me that the chip would have errors both when it has been on for an extended period or when it is chilled. What exactly would be causing that problem?

Hi DoorOfTime; It not barbaric cause i have a M42vt led tv that had a scrambled pic this tv i found on the curve too, i did the heat gun reflow on the BGA and tv has been running like a champ for a year now, also put a fan on the back of the BGA,just try to reflow with the heat gun just like this Utube video shows,if you do that way it will not harm the board.

Vizio E55-F1 dark backlight zones. LED failure or Dimming Zone Driver?

      Problem

Fixing a dimming zone TV with LEDs not lighting up. Dimming zone circuit introduces added variable to diagnose LED and/or Dimming Zone Driver board? Some 1/2 rows of LEDs appears to be out in active dimming zone off AND some brightness flickering with active dimming zone high while playing changing video

      Model & Board Pics

      Conflicting Spec

Vizio indicate this TV has 10 dimming zones. However, LED strips and Zoned light driver connector suggest 12

ipad pro 9.7" blew a SMD component while replacing the screen 🤦‍♂️
      by ipatch
i have an ipad pro 9.7" (1st gen) A1674 where i replaced the screen, but never attached the screen to the frame/chassis (glued down) due to the ipad being previously dropped so the new screen would never fit in the frame properly. so i need flex/bend the chassis to eventually fix the new screen in properly. so i temporarily just applied blue tape around the edges of the screen to keep it in place. when watching videos with the ipad the screen started flicker, so i though maybe the new quasi cheap amz screen i purchased was going out. so i disconnected then reconnected with power still on,...

Vizio P659-G1 Screen Removal / Backlight Replacement
      by bstewara
      Hi All,
Has anyone had the experience of replacing backights on the “P” series Vizio tv?
      Model number P659-G1
This type tv has a very small bezel holding the screen in and I’m not sure how the bezel/screen is assembled. ( I’m hoping the screen is not epoxied to the frame)
Before I attempt this I thought maybe someone on this forum has performed this backlight replacement procedure.

      Thanks in advance...

Macbook 2017 with touchbar (A1706) won't turn on after removing the screen
      by Ryan.man
Hello everybody! Posting this in hopes somebody has some expertise that leads to a clear path of troubleshooting that saves me a lot of time!

My macbook has the flex cable problem, the one that prevents the screen turning on. Ive been dealing with this for the last 3 years. Last year it went dead and I managed to fix it following youtube tutorials. But my fix wasnt the best, the problem returned a month later. This week, it went dead again. I again tried to fix it.

This time the original cable broke too close to the screen, it can't be fixed without tearing the screen...

Trouble to identify part (Lunii screen) for replacement
      by FreakyMex
Hello guys. I'm a complete noob in electronics. I'd like to repair my child Lunii's (a "story box"), basically an audio player that allows the childs to choose between several options the places, characters, objects of the story, and then play a story according to the choice of the child. There is a screen that display the selected option before each choice. The Lunii fell and the screen is now broken.
I'd like to repair it (probably just have to change the part, because the lunii still works perfectly fine) but I can't manage to identify the part/order it online. Do you have any...
