    Element ELEFW605 Blue Screen

Hello, I inherited 3 of these TVs from my father in law over the holidays. All 3 of these have a blue screen when turned on and have sound. All 3 are the exact same model. On one TV, I actually ordered a complete kit from ShopJimmy, then installed all 4 PC boards one at a time and checking after each installed board, having the same result after each board replacement. I cannot rule out the kit I received might have the same issue, as the kit came with the exact sticker from the back side of the TV I currently have, so I suspect this kit came from an "un tested" unit which might have the same issue. Thank you for the assistance!

Unplug the t-con ribbons one at a time and see if you get half a picture

thank you for the direction. If I do NOT get half a screen with 1 T-Con ribbon unplugged would you say the issue might lie with the T Con PC Board? I assume the T - Con board is the board on the bottom, with the 2 ribbon cables that go directly to the LCD panel (image 3 above)?

I unplugged the left side ribbon cable, I get 1/2 white 1/2 blue screen. I re-install the ribbon cable and unplug the right side ribbon cable, I get a full black screen. What shall I check next?

Is that with a source connected? Did you try to push the menu button or anything while testing each side? Can you post a picture of the blue screen?

no source connected, and I didn't try to push the menu button. The 1/2 blue and 1/2 white screen with the left side ribbon cable disconnected was a very bright blue color and a very vivid white color. With both ribbon cables plugged in, or the right ribbon cable disconnected the screen color is a dull dark blue / grey color. I can try to get a picture of this this evening. Thank you for the help thus far!

              Re: Element ELEFW605 Blue Screen

I suspect that the very bright blue screen is the standard "no signal" screen that a lot of sets have these days. If so, that would suggest that the left side of the panel has a short somewhere. You might get lucky and find something out of whack on the driver boards that connect to the panel (these are the long thin boards that are bonded directly to the panel. I would try the T-Con ribbon technique on all three sets. Maybe one of the other sets failed on the other side. If that's the case, you can use one set to measure and compare readings from each component and find the culprit. If it's a tab driver IC, then unfortunately you're almost certainly out of luck.

Please connect a source and try the T-con ribbons again. If you get half of a good picture, your problem is likely on the blank side of the panel.

thank you for the help on these tvs. On all 3 TVs, I found bad ribbon cables, or I assume they are the "Tab Driver IC" boards, which attach to the bottom side of the LCD panel. So now I guess I have 4 sets of PCBs to get ride of if someone is interested...If someone else has these TVs, look at the bottom ribbon cables first before ordering any parts, as I assume this condition is not fixable..!!!
