    Rebuilding TNPA5330 , TNPA5349 & TNPA53305

I've been repairing tv's for almost 3 years now , just for my hobby! Basically i only repair Panasonic plasma tv's from 2011+ and to be honest....i really didn't know what i was doing in the beginning. Didn't know how to measure igbt's and diodes and with a little help from friends/youtube and great members on this forum i learned more and more and developed a passion for the Panasonic plasma tv.

Over these 3 years i repaired a lot of 2011 models and collected a lot of damaged Y-sus boards from 2011+ models. I always thought ... "Ha , just change those 6 fets and we got a working tv " but i was wrong. Over the last year i got more damaged boards then working boards. Not because of my soldering or knowledge but because of FAKE parts.

Fake 30F131 , RJP30H2A , DG302 and RF1501 blew most of the boards. On the pictures you will see boards that i received from people that tried to repair the 7 blink problem. Not only you will see "bad" soldering by those people but also fake parts and the results. Fake parts + not cleaning the board will result in blowing diodes/fets and fire!

At the moment i have 24 Y-sus boards from 42GT30/50VT30 and thats why i started this thread , 24 is a lot!! All with 6 or 7 blinks but all of them took massive hits or were used as scrap boards. I decided to try and bring them back alive. Some are missing the capacitors , others got blown diodes above the white prong connector and others have parts gone/missing that i need to figure out what they are.

Because most of the problems are in the "Energy recovery circuit" i will put my focus on those parts first. Panasonic provided a parts list in the service manual but its not always clear what the exact item is.

I know it will cost me some money but it will be worth it in the end. Why? I recently repaired one that blew 4 or 5 times and is now working so that gave me hope.
I love soldering , got a spare GT30 , VT30 and ST30 and i got the time so i got nothing to loose....maybe a little money but the knowledge is worth more.
I just need to figure out what parts are bad and maybe in the end i can help someone with the same problem.

I have ordered all resistors , photo couplers , diodes , igbt's , capacitors in the energy recovery circuit. All are original parts from a chip company in China. I found them via HKinventory.com , it will cost a little more but they ship with DHL and i received the original parts in 2/3 days.

    Next chapter , parts!

Because of all the fake parts i searched for a reliable source because spending money on eBay , wait 2/3 weeks and receiving fake parts is a real pain in the ass!!!

I bought the following parts and all are original!

    IC502 ( BD8693FVM ) + Q531 ( CPH5524-TL-E ) from Ebay ( user e-best-trade ).
    FGD4536TM , replacement for 30F131 and RJP30H2A. From eBay ( user Monitor-09 )
FGD4536TM from hkinventory.com for test because i didn't trust monitor-09 at first after receiving fake FGD4536 from Utsource. , these are all original!

RF1501 , HKinventory. Looks a bit bigger but i tested it and tv turned on with this item. ( Look at picture ).
    DG302 , HKinventory.
    RFN20 , HKinventory.
    PS9157 , HKinventory. ( Photocoupler ).
Fairchild ES1G are the replacements for the diodes. ( Thx Flocko ).

Will wait for the other items like resistors , diodes to arrive.

First step is removing the old parts and clean up the first TNPA5330 Y-sus with alcohol...... Will update in the future if anyone is interested. 24 SC boards....thats worth a lot of money if they work.........

I would not trust HKinventory to supply part that were not fake, they operate as a clearing house for sellers of no longer needed parts, the same as Utsource. They do not check any parts or know 99% of the time were they come from or if they work. And looking at the amount of defects on these board you will need a lot of luck and deep pockets.

Going to be honest bud but the ones you've soldered the main tab on the fets doesn't look flowed properly ?

Those are not boards that i worked on Reece but you are correct. I just posted the boards that i got with the bad soldering which im planning to work on in the future.

@Flocko , I did not know that but the items that i received are working. I got 350 igbt's and diodes etc for $70 so thats not that bad. I ordered from them before and no problems.

You also have to ask yourself what do you do with the boards if and when they fixed.I am not doing half the sales I was two years ago, and I supply refurbished boards to the trade. Sorry to say but I think these sets have seen there day. Unless its over 60"smart UHD 4K you can not give them away.I am happy to spend a day or two in the workshop a week just doing refurbish boards, but also glad not to have to repair and sell to customers that want everything for nothing. But I wish you well in your quest, and if you need anymore help just ask

I am extra careful when i buy things on ebay. The fact that they have 99% positive rating doesnt mean shyt. When you message the seller about fake parts, they would often give a refund without returning it. But how many buyers would leave negative feedback after that? And there is the possibility that the seller will raise it with ebay to retract a negative feedback because they already refunded the money.

@Flocko , True but at the moment its just laying on the floor doing nothing. With just 1 oor 2 boards i would not bother but i got 24 of them. In the Netherlands people still search for Panasonic plasma tv's , especially the VT/GT models because they dont want LED tv's. I recently sold a 5 year old 55 inch VT30 for 500euro's and a 42 inch for 300. ( Easily ).

So in the UK they might not buy these boards but in the Netherlands people are searching for these. And if i sell them for $100 a piece instead of the Ebay prices i will loose them.

Thanks , i need all the luck and will post my findings here.

                    Re: Rebuilding TNPA5330 , TNPA5349 & TNPA53305

Still waiting for some parts to come in ( IC501/Q531 ) but i already got some succes with 2 boards. 1 TNPA5330 and 1 TNPA5349. On the TNPA5330 i had to replace almost every part in the energy recovery circuit. Replaced all buffer ic's ( 8 legged ic ) and transistors and the board fired up.

The TNPA5349 however turned on but gave me a negative image. After comparing almost every component with another board i found out that 1 tiny diode and 1 tiny capacitor was missing next to Q661. ( RJP63G4 ). Took these from a scrap board and the board is now working!

Im now working on my 3rd SC board , tnpa5330 , but im clueless. I repaired the board but RJP63G4 blew with a bang and sparkles/fire. Because this part was removed many many times the pad now got removed. I now got a short on Q661 even with the part removed , all other parts are still ok.

Anyone got a idea how Q661 is still short with all parts in that area removed? Can this be because of a transformer on the board?

I need help with this 1.

                      Is it a multilayer pcb?

Yes it is. So it can be a part on the other side of the board. All the resistors , diodes measure ok. Glad i now got a working board to compare.

Im going to remove the parts on this picture and see if the short goes away. Good idea or?

One board will be a donor board anyways so i got spare parts.

Removed ic921 and got one from the donor board. Short is gone.
Next task is replacing the rest of the missing parts....to becontinued!

Yeaah , its working!!! This was the hardest board to repair yet as it was heavily damaged. Pads missing on Q661 but bridged it to R661. Replaced all the missing fets , resistors and diodes and turned on the tv! 6 blinks and a short on collector to emitter on q421/422/423???Short went away after a period of time...dont get it. Again a small ic near a transformer was missing , got it from a scrap board and tv turned on! Damn , lucky haha.

Need to clean up the solder and the rest of the board but the board will never look pretty again haha. For now the score is 4 out of 24!!

I have to say , it is alot of ( fun ) work! Definately 2 whole evening of measuring and soldering per board but i love the results so far. I won't make it to 24 as i need some of the boards for parts.

More to come and i will show the end results of all boards. I also made a small schematic with all resistors and their values because when you use fake igbt's the resistors and small diodes in the middle section of the board will blow.

Next board will be another challenge. Look at the traces on D421 ( DAF30A )...pfff. Hope it is still intact.

Missing parts besides all fets and diodes are:

                                Resistor r601
                                Diode d108
                                Transistor q600
                                Ic724 /ic684

I probably need another donor board for this one , lets repair this fucker

Watch out for fake RJP63G4 , boards will explode and damage the following parts on a tnpa5349 AB

                                  Q661 , Q401 , Q402 , Q421 , Q422 , Q451.

Q451 will read short between collector and emitter.

Hmm , probably reflection of light. They are really tiny fets , most what you see is the actual board before clean up.

Next board blew again , will be scrap board.

The FGD4536TM that everyone is talking about doesn't seem to work for me. I fitted them to a tnpa5335 board and blew up immediately. I know these are original because I ordered them from RS which is a certified retailer. They came in very small TO-252 packages.

As soon as I replaced them with RJH3047, the TV fired up straight away.

So what is the success rate of the FGD4536TM?
