Samsung UN55ES6500 edge lit video problem

I have a Samsung UN55ES6500 that has some bight spots on the left side of the screen that show up only when the background is a light color. They disappear when the screen is black or a dark color. Is this a hardware problem like a bad edge lit driver or could this be software related?
Any help would be appreciated.

Not software more likely those leds are ready to pop or the diffuser sheets behind the screen are deformed or peeling in that area.

This will sometimes happen after you put the tv back together from replacing the led strips due to improperly aligned diffusers as mentioned above by mmartell. You may want to either tuff it out or take the set 100% apart and tape down the diffusers/realign. It is also possible that you could be getting some bad leds that are about to go out. Does this happen as well when you have your back-light setting set to lowest?

Thanks for your reply. It is the same if I change the backlighting to zero but only shows up on a light colored background.
The set is still covered under an extended warranty so I contacted their tech repair and they want to replace the panel saying that's what the problem is.
I'm reluctant to have them do that since I don't believe that is the problem. The set has an excellent picture and don't want a panel that is not as good as the original.
Also the set was never taken apart or moved from its current location to cause the diffusers to shift or change.

Have them replace it, they use a brand new Lcd panel and backlight module. The Lcd panels in these sets are so shit and unreliable anyway so best have em do the whole lot before your warranty goes
