Hello all,
My dads TV recently broke and he asked me to look at it and see if I could fix it. The power light comes up but the screen remains dark. I tried the flashlight test to see if the backlight was bad and couldn't see anything.
I found the circuit diagrams for the PSU and mainboard online and started testing the voltages. At the connector between the PSU and the mainboard I get 5.2V readings on the 5V pins and ~18.5 V on the 12_16V pins (https://sli.mg/ID6bsF). If I disconnect the ribbon between the mainboard and the PSU then I get 15.8 V on the 16 V pins. However, this could still mean the PSU is the culprit (not the mainboard) if the PSU can only work in an unloaded state i.e its feedback controller is broken.
So I guess my question is whether or not anyone has had issues with this before and insight into whether my problem is with the PSU or the mainboard.
Thanks
