I can almost guarantee that LG 55LE5500 has bad LEDS, multiple. Good luck though.

    Nice.

I love plasma over ccfl/led. I haven't see the new oled tv yet though for any length of time.

^^ That must have been a bitch to carry.

The guy i got the sets off told me the Sharp has some weird U-shaped CCFLs and he couldn't find any, so that one sounds like a good candidate for a LED tape retrofit.

For the other ones, they have not been messed with, i'm pretty sure.

The seller let me take the back off the 55" LG and also the Sky and the Philips. He seemed like the kind of guy who has the tools but lacks the experience to use them and he's afraid to mess things up more when presented with difficult failures. He works for some people that bring broken stuff by the truckload from Germany, and they have switched from TVs to audio amps and receivers recently, so he was looking to pawn the remaining TVs to free up some room for other stuff.

Nice find. I thought I hit it last night when I picked up a 64" Samsung plasma from 2012 so thin for 50 bucks and only thing wrong with it so far is a fuse. If that's it then it's my best score probably ever

    Holy mother of TV scores!

You won't believe what i picked up tonight. 6 TVs and one montor for $120!!!

In order of importance, there are:

20" Sharp Aquos 720p, bad CCFLs. Guy told me he replaced the inverter and it worked for 1 more year then the tubes burned out.
30" "Sky" 720p, bad CCFLs and/or inverter. Missing some cables too.
22" Dell monitor, CCFL tubes have been pulled to fix a TV.

And here come the big ones.
37" Philips 1080p CCFL, power board missing, no other details.
40" Grundig (Vestel) 1080p LED, powers on with backlight, no picture.
42" JVC 1080p CCFL, tab bond failures, powers on with picture, left side good, middle good but inverted colors, right side good colors but lagging motion.
And the best for last - 55" LG 1080p LED Seems to boot up, no backlight no picture. It's pretty much the big brother of my 37LE5300, it's a 55LE5500. Same kind of combo mainboard/tcon, so it could very well be the main but it's expensive to get. We'll see. But holy crap this sucker is huge.

Besides the JVC all sets also came with stands.

My boss helped me carry them home, it was interesting fitting all this stuff in the car and carrying it home. I'll be back with pics.

The JVC is first up. I'll let you know what i find.

HANNSG Hi221 -- 2 secs to black feat. CCFL flicker & "burn" marks on power board
    by ttmi100x
    Greetings everyone,

I have a HANNSG Hi221 monitor that exhibits two seconds to black issues (backlight goes off, display is still on as confirmed by shining a flashlight on it) with some additional oddities...

The monitor failed on me with a standard "2 seconds to black" some time ago prompting me to initially replace most of the electrolytic capacitors (some of them were bulging/leaking).
Things kinda sorta worked for a night, then the problem returned along with some flickering and "buzzing" noises.

    Upon closer inspection...

Help on Samsung Syncmaster T220 dead ccfl lamp
    by mikey5791
    Hi,

This monitor previously is my main working monitor which i have been using for 8~9 years. Yesterday, when i switched on my pc from fresh to power on, the monitor is just black no display. I started dismantle to look inside the monitor power board but nothing looks suspicious or burnt. So i took my external ccfl inverter to try to power the monitor ccfl lamps which consisted of 2 lamps on upper part and 2 lamps on the lower part.

Found out the upper ccfl lamp which is supposed to connect to cn304 on the power board did not light up. Then i installed a used working...

Design of CCFL Backlight Inverters with Frame & Bar Cores

    Summary

Portable devices, such as notebook computers and personal digital assistants are developed rapidly nowadays, which places an increasing demand on display technology. The LCD with cold cathode fluorescent back lighting satisfies the requirements on display performance, size and efficiency.

The backlight inverter plays a crucial role in supplying the power to the lamps of these flat-panel displays.

The frame and bar ferrite cores, described in this brochure, are especially designed...

BIOS upgrade fail mother GA-A320M-S2H (rev. 1.2)
    by andrestecno
Hi, my USB ports were hanging every now and then when starting up. So I decided to update the BIOS of the mother. Unfortunately, after finishing the flashing through QFLASH with a pendrive of the latest firmware version, the cooler turns on, black screen and seems blocked.

    Model: GA-A320M-S2H (rev. 1.2)
    Processor: AMD A8 9600
    Previous BIOS version: F53

I downloaded the F58d version from here (I think it's the correct one)

Is there anything that can be done?...

Evoo gaming laptop EG-LP10-BK not displaying with 1080p screen but it displays with
    by Zilicon
    Please help:

The above laptop with the board number: "GK5MP5X MB V1.0" started with the screen becoming blank when a game was launched, or a higher definition video was being played. It became worse by not displaying at all during boot up, but there are signs that the PC was working every other thing worked except the display.

The PC works normally with HD screen (720p) but no display with a full HD screen (1080p)

I couldn't find any boardview or the schematics for the motherboard.

Please, how do I solve this problem
