    Samsung PN43D440A5D Plasma will not power up.

    The set comes on with the samsung power on music, but the screen is black and no video or picture. My VA/VS voltages both drop right away and the led on the logic flashes slowly, indicating an issue. I get my DC voltages on the power supply, just VA/VS drop after power on.

    My VS-ON comes up at 5v at power up then quickly drops back to 0V, and the VA/VS voltages disappear. I know the VS-ON comes from the main board, so is this a possible main board issue. Its not the p/s as I replaced it with one in my shop.

      It was the Y-Main. shorted diode and surface mounts on back of board.

          Hello,

          I have the same issue now. The TV will not turn on and making clicking noises. I noticed some raised caps on the middle board.

          The board with raised caps:



          I have a technical background but no experience with TV repairs. How do I go about figuring out which board is the issue?

              Unplug this connection and try to power on. Get the kid away from the LEATHAL voltages that are in tv. You most likely have 3 or 4 blown transistors underneath the x-main. I use fgd4536 as a substitute.

                  After unplugging that board, I turned on the TV and heard the Samsung startup tone. So what does that mean?

                  Do I replace all the transistors underneath the board or is there a way to check which ones are bad?

                      That means you probably have your VS voltage back. Check and see if voltages are there now. Check all 3 pin black devices that are screwed to aluminum heatsinks with the designator starting with a Q. See if thier shorted. These are mosfets. This will be your problem. Also for good measure replace any swollen caps on power supply. It's always a slight possibility that the power supply has enough power to generate voltage on one board but not both.

                      On another note... Power supplies hold a lethal voltage, even weeks after being unplugged. You really should not let the child around that opened tv. Any part inside if touched wrong could be fatal!

                              Set your meter for DCV. Black probe to chassis. Red.probe to VS pin off power supply. Turn on tv and check voltage.

                              You cab stick pin of probe into the connector so it stays there when you turn on the TV. Check at the connector going to the Y main. This this the board opposite of the one yoiu disconnected.

                                  I picked up this TV from Facebook Marketplace, original owner described it as "screen went black after a pop" and I hoped to see an obvious fuse or cap to replace. Doesn't seem to be the case, but my experience and electrical knowledge are kind of limited for this.

                                  The power board (BN44-00445A, see attached) turns on and Vs and Va seem to momentarily have power, then they steadily drain to zero over a minute or two as if they're only getting power from capacitors. I've been measuring Vs and Va from the test pads, with and without the other boards connected to the power board...

                                  I was given this TV from my great uncle. He said it just wouldn't turn on one day out of nowhere, replaced the TV, and gave it to me to possibly fix and use for myself.

                                  Upon bringing it home and plugging it up, it showed a standby light.

                                  I powered it on and without a flashlight, the display showed the "V" but the lighting is very dim, but visible.

                                  The screen seems to blackout and stay black, but with a flashlight I can see the display.

                                  With my Playstation 4 connected via HDMI, and running a game I can hear sound.

                                  Hi all!

                                  I'm trying to troubleshoot a Microsoft Surface Pro (5th gen) model 1796 that won't power on. Motherboard model is M1007506-015. My priority is retrieving data, but the SSD is integrated so it looks like if I can't repair it it'll need to go to a data recovery company. I've done a little basic board repair before, but nothing this advanced until now. So please forgive my ignorance in advance. 😅

                                  Hello, I have a Samsung Plasma TV - Model # PN43D450A2D

                                  This was my parents TV and the initial symptoms were that the display was hard to turn on with the display making various clicking noises until one day it would not turn on anymore.

                                  I took a look and found a couple 1000uF capacitors (i believe on the low voltage size) that had leaked out their electrolyte and did not test well on a tester. I replaced them but still no dice.

                                  When the TV is plugged in, there is no clicking, LED status lights (on PCB boards or the front display) and the power on button...
