Good day folks. Got this Toshiba LCD TV (don't know the exact model, sorry, though it's mostly irrelevant I believe) which displays what you see in the picture. I'm thinking the panel is busted. The screen starts off black, as it should with no signal, but in less than a few seconds that cloud you see in the picture quickly fades in from the bottom and remains stuck at the top right like that. I was wondering what component causes such behavior generally (that's why I said the model doesn't matter too much): a bad panel, or a bad main board ? The TV has sound, from what the guy told me and it doesn't show any visible signs of panel damage (the guy who brought it also confirmed the screen didn't suffer any hits, at least none that he knows of). I believe I've ruled out the T-CON board possibility, since the symptoms of those are usually lines/blocks, whereas I get like a greenish cloud with a honeycomb pattern on it and the screen isn't even fully covered - it stays only in the top right there. Wouldn't want to start swapping boards only to realize it was the panel all along (waste of money !). I haven't done anything with it yet - I'll open it up soon and poke around to see if the picture changes. I still suspect the panel's been struck by something strong enough to damage the cells but not strong enough to leave any marks.
