    bn44-00161a vs bn44-00189a

    Hi,

    I've got ps42q97HD fitted with faulty bn44-00161a
I've got also ps50q97HD fitted with bn44-00189a, power supply fully working.
How to make PSU for 50" working in 42" tv?
I tried PSU from 50" in 42", everything has been working fine until I switched the TV off.
bn44-00189a working fine fitted back in 50" TV

Intel iMacs, 3rd party SSD failures and Fusion setups
    by reformatt
I thought I'd throw out some of my personal experiences in the last 12 months with Intel iMacs, 2.5" SATA SSD drives and Fusion drive data recoveries.

As a backgrounder, Apple never fitted a 2.5" SSD's to these iMacs. Apple's SSD option was a system of 32GB NVMe blade drive (NGFF connector) and Seagate 1TB 2.5" HDD, married together in software to become a Fusion drive. Non Fusion systems have just the 1TB Seagate HDD.

So, the most common reason an iMac comes across my bench is because it's either ridiculously slow, or it fails to boot at all. The most...

Asus P5P43TD won't boot or beep with memory fitted
    by dicky96
    Hi guys
I have this ASUS P5P43TD motherboard. If I boot with no RAM and no VGA card fitted it stops on POST code D3 and beep 1 long + two short, repeating.

But if I fit some DDR3 it stops with POST code F0 or 40 and does not beep at all. Generally if I fit 1 DIMM in slot A1 it gives error F0 and if I fit 2 DIMMS it gives error 40

It has an AMI Bios. According to my POST analyzer, 40 means 'preparing the descriptor tables next' and F0 means 'next, searching for the AMIBOOT.ROM file in the root directory'

F1 would mean 'the AMIBOOT.ROM file is...

GRT60-145410 brick PSU, how much of a fire hazard is this thing exactly?
    by spleenharvester
I bought an Alpicool C20 fridge, which is a 60W compressor fridge that runs on 12V or 24V, which can come from either an AC/DC adapter from mains (240V here in UK) or a car battery. The fridge itself is really good quality, so I was surprised to find the power supply (DC14.5V, 4.1A) pretty questionable. Despite being 240V/1.5A the plug was fitted with a 13A fuse - concerning, but not all that uncommon for imported chinese electronics here. But when I felt how light the brick was I immediately said hell no and transferred the proprietary connector to a MeanWell GS90A12-P1M brick (this supply is...

Dell Alienware x17 R1 - Keyboard not working
    by ronaldopdias
    Symptoms:
No keys work apart from F1, F7, F12 function keys such as keyboard brightness, touchpad enable/disable.
Keyboard RGB works okay and might be adjustable.
VERY occasionally it may function but most of the time it is dead.

The fault is down to the USB data lines not going low when the bus is idle. The keyboard connects over USB, so the issue on the USB data bus causes it to stop functioning.

The fix is to fit a 1K resistor to the daughterboard that the keyboard + trackpad connect to. The daughterboard is located beneath the battery. The resistor...

    No display on HP 17-cp0385nd
    by JeroenRood
    Hello,
I need some assistance or advice.
I have a laptop for repair with no display.
    HP 17-cp0385nd
    prod id : 538h5ea#abh
    motherboard : SPS:M51689-601 or 17n_AMD_FP6

After powering on, the backlight is switched on and the CPU fan spins (variable speed), but nothing on the screen.

If I reset the BIOS (remove batterypack), I get a message on the screen that the cmos was reset "Press Enter to continu."
After pressing enter, I only get a blank screen again.

I used the BIOS recovery (Win key + B) from a USB-stick and...
