    Sony KDL-46EX400 startup issue

I have a Sony KDL-46EX400 that is acting strange. When you power it up, the backlight will come on for a second, along with a loud buzzing sound. It tries to turn on 3 times, then goes into standby. The LED flashes 6 times. In the service manual it indicates a backlight problem, and the possible cause it says LCD panel.

When I remove the connections going from the power supply to the inverter board, the tv doesn't buzz anymore when trying to power up. It just tries turning on and chirps each time(rather then buzz), then goes into standby. Would this be a bad panel or inverter board? See pics below.

Bad panel how ? Also checked the secondary resistance of the little buffer transformers and the main one on the Psu for the backlights ?

It says possible cause for 6 led flashes is LCD panel in the service manual. I forgot to mention that there was a lightening strike and it took out a few of this guys appliances and other electronics.

I will check the transformers and let you know what I find.

        Re: Sony KDL-46EX400 startup issue

        Please read the Training manual.
6X Blink - Backlight System Failure (46” Models)
The 46” models have both a 4X and 6X blink protection mode. The 4X blink will, in most cases, be caused by a defective lamp.
Because all the Backlight HV Inverter circuits are located on the GD2-Board, a 6X blink protection mode will be fixed, in most cases, by replacing the GD2-Board. If the GD2-Board does not repair the problem replace the A-Board. The BL-ON and Dimmer signals come from the microprocessor on the A-Board. A shorted or open BL-ON signal will cause this 3X condition. Also a shorted Dimmer will cause this 3X condition.

            Good day Experts

Lenovo Ideapad 5 15ARE05 startup issue
            by db80
            Hello friends,

I've been racking my brain over the past few months on the following issue:
I have a Lenovo Ideapad 5 15ARE05 laptop that basically works fine as long it starts up at all.

If you shut it down, often you hear the HDD still spinning and the Power LED remains on, it only shuts down if you force it (pressing the power button for like 15 seconds).
Then, if you want to Switch it on, nothing happens, only the Power LED lights on, nothing else. If you leave it, then after like 30-60mins it turns on itself.
I tried all the common alleged „fixes“...

Sony Bravia KDL-70W850B T-CON board / software update issue
            by eclectric
Hi, I'm hoping someone can help me with this issue before I give up on this TV.

In short, I replaced the T-CON board due to an error code indicating that was the problem, after which it flashed a green and orange LED meaning software update required. I cannot get the tv to do the required update via USB, so I am stuck.

Here is a rundown of the symptoms and the steps I have taken to troubleshoot:

I inherited the TV with the symptom that it would turn on, then turn off after 5-10 seconds and a red LED flashed 4 or 5 times. Sometimes it would be 4, sometimes...

Sony SLV-E780 Power Supply Issue – Clicking Sound, Need Help Identifying Faulty Component
            by Akuanka
            Hi everyone,

I'm troubleshooting a power supply issue with a Sony SLV-E780 VCR. The device clicks repeatedly but doesn't power up completely. I've already replaced five capacitors, but the problem persists.

Here's a video link https://photos.app.goo.gl/3Xki6yvCLn67gLX78 showcasing the sound. Based on your experience, could this be due to a transformer, diode, or another component? Any guidance on what to test or replace next would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance for your help!

sony sdm-p234 very rare issue never seen before
            by GraphicMan
The monitor is old yes but occasionally used (perhaps about 1 ~2 hours usage per day on average)
one time i turned the pc on and noticed this issue
            what could it be?
nothing wrong is seen when it is off, also the issue is not there on a green screen!
when watching movies it is hard to detect unless in black screen/large shadows
            please check the images, thanks...
