Plasma LG 50PA6500 keeps blowing bottom buffer

Picked this one up off of Craigslist that was listed as no picture but had sound. Went through and did my checks and found the bottom buffer had a blown IC.

I replaced the bottom buffer with one from shopjimmy and the set worked fine for about 6 hours until the picture went out again. Checked the bottom buffer and found the same IC blown. SJ sent me a replacement at no charge which fixed the TV again for a few hours until the picture went out. Pulled the bottom buffer and found a different blown IC. All of my voltages are correct when the set is working and when it is not, if I remove the bottom buffer the voltages are fine.

Is it possible the Ysus is bad and blowing the buffer w/out blowing the top one? Or could it be a panel fault and I should just throw in the towel?

Couldn't see any cold solder joints on the X but went ahead and touched up all the solder joints. The buffer still blew again a few hours later. Went out and purchased a new YSUS and another buffer and the set has played all week.

        Problem

This is an LG edge LED lit LCD Display. The LEDs are on the bottom edge of the display. There are 2 bars (left and right) Each bar has many LEDs and a 6 pin connector. Each pin drive several LEDs thus is the highest current flow / heat junction. The weak lead free solder gradually fails with thermal expansion/contraction cycling and increases resistance. PSU will compensate up to a point, then when the current is too high, PSU just shut down the backlight causing a dark display. I have even seen one which the connector just fell off as solder points became completely detached....

        TCL 49S405 double image
        by howardc64
LCD displays a 2nd image slighty offset vertically. And multiple pairs of black lines along the bottom. Probably common as google "TCL 49S405 double image" pulls up this ifixit post ( link ) with identical ( nearly, but their fault seems to be on the other half of the panel than mine ) problem without solution.

This one looks to be a more difficult to diagnose because most? of TCON seems integrated ( CSOT BGA on buffer baord) into the left panel edge board ( looking from rear of TV) There are 2 buffer boards for each 1/2 of the screen. Main connects to the left buffer board...

Schematic or datasheet for Plasma TV buffer chip
        by Yanleb
        Hi all,

I'm interested in understanding how a buffer board chip is working. I know there's about 90 outputs per chip to the plasma panel, but I'm more interested to know about the input pins. I guess that some of them are address pins, but I want to know more.

So far I've found nothing at all. I haven't found any datasheet about the various buffer chips, and I haven't found any schematic for the buffer board using them (Y Buffer Board in Samsung's terminology).

Any information will make me happy. It can be from any buffer chip or plasma TV manufacturer....

How an incandescent light and a ESR meter ** friend**have a machine blowing fuses
        by sam_sam_sam
About a month ago we had a transformer jumper wire that burned in two different places between two transformers caused over $200 thousand dollars worth of damage to VFD drives at least 10 of them and a memory card and quite a few power supply as well

Now we have most of the equipment that got damaged back up and running except a feeder that has issues and we are waiting for some parts for

Now we also have another piece of equipment that was blowing fuses on the 110 volt controller switch circuit with the “E” stops and one switching power (24 volt) supply and a transformer...

LG 42PC3 buffer output doesn't follow YSUS
        by legg
LG42PC3D -UD originally with green lamp but no display or audio.
Owner says was working, then went 'pop'.
        All 5V caps bulging. replaced.
All PSU output voltages within spec but -Vy is low on YSUS.
One of three parallel fets between SUS_OUT and SUS_DN is zenering,
eventually shorts DG. Replaced all 3 - -Vy now OK.

Y scan buffer test point does not follow YSUS output below -50V

Note: This unit seems to expect YSUS output to park at -Vy in between
drive signal pattern periods. A replacement drive signal board confirms this....
