    PHILIPS 42pfh5209/88

well i picked this 42pfh5209/88 up for £35 at buyers house screen lit up and no picture, i thought tcon fault, on getting the back off fuse tested ok on tcon all cables were in place, ic on tcon was getting really hot i took off screen lvds cables one at a time and it was the r/h one causing the ic to get hot, so something was shorted on the r/h driver board, too off frame eeeekkkk it was water damaged

But the tab bond was intact no ingression at all just surounding components, i removed them and found 2 shorted caps and a sc resistor, cleaned up area replaced components and its working

just thought id share it with you

ps flux on the board was cleaned up after pic was taken

Wow thats luck buddy, nice fix ! I have had some like this but never been able to fix as the owners just kept running them to the point where the liquid and power caused electrolysis and corroded everything as they think well if I run it it will evaporate.

ACER XB27 , shorted tcon, bad caps?
        by danishaznita
        Good day all ,

I have a ACER XB27 that go onto only to white screen .

Upon disaasembly, a Transistor at Q308 is burned good, and two big ceramic caps beside it is blacken . I removed both component , and checked for short (between Fuse and ground) and get 37 ohm, which is still too low .

After weeks of digging old posts about Tcon , i stumble upon this old post from 2017 (https://www.badcaps.net/forum/showpo...0&postcount=19), which user momaka wrote

        Philips 55POS9002/12 shorted mains
        by Henke
        Hi.

I have a Philips tv where the two main fuses are blown. I found a bad cap. I removed it, and now it seems to work. But i have to replace the cap. I do not have the exact same one at home. What's the purpose for it and what values can i use instead?

Its placed across the Drain and Source on a N/Channel MOS

The blown one is 101K, 1KV (check picture). I have 221K, 1KV at home, can i use that?...

Driving a Sharp TCON/panel with a universal main board
        by advant
This thread is about trying to get an Universal Main Board to work with a Sharp TCON and panel.

I have a Sharp LC-46D85UN TV that has had a main board issue. Since this model is from 2009, I am not able to find an exact replacement of the main board. Instead, I decided to see if I can future proof this tv by getting a Universal Main Board (T53U21.2) from China to work with the Sharp TCON (CPWBX4291TPZA) and panel. The universal main board supports a 8 bit dual channel LVDS interface whereas the TCON requires a 10 bit dual channel LVDS input. I have modded the LVDS connector to match...

        Sharp LC-80LE844U Blinks 2 slow, 5 fast
        by joblo37pam
It's been a while since I've checked in here or needed input on narrowing down what to replace on a TV repair, but I've got one on my bench now that has me wondering. The lack of part (board) availability means I may need to do some component-level diagnostics, and a second opinion is always good when it comes to that.

The issue - Sharp LC-80LE844U does not display. Power light comes on for a while, then you can hear a relay click off and the light blinks twice slow, then five times fast. Service manual points to 'Panel Power Supply Error' with this code, but isn't much more help...

LG OLED77G1PUA - No Video / Audio after a TCON Board change and Software Update
        by Hakuu
        Hi There,

This TV was auto switching off after few seconds with some vertical lines on the screen, so got a new TCON board and replaced it.

After replacing the TCON board it was working fine and i set it up with everything, used for few hours, then had the bright idea to update the software on it. During the update process, TV switched off and now no audio or video. No relay switch sound.

        More Details

        TV Model - LG OLED77G1PUA

Got the same exact TCON board from TVPartsToday and replaced it. But didnt transfer the EPPROM data (didnt...
