Re: Mele S1 doesn't spin drives

So the 3.3V, 1V,1.5, 1.8V are present? All 3 XTAL are oscillating, etc.
I still cannot see where those Voltages are coming from yet since I do not see the linear regulator ICs on the board and those DCV readings in those sections I request are not what I am expecting.
It is going to really time consuming without the diagrams for the complex board and trying to troubleshoot donw to component level from long distant. May be some one will have lots of spare times to do it to probe the board with the scope to see if the circuits are alive.
Are there forums for this board and other people that have the same problems as yours and able to solve it? I am sure you are not the only one with this problem

Re: Mele S1 doesn't spin drives

AFAIK the only forums where schematics mods are discussed are some German forums. Of course most player boards have a lot in common, and in fact are developed and made under contract by a very few CN and SK companies, but the trend now throughout the world is replacing devices, not repairing boards, and this means loss of qualification by many techs. Also, reliability of components tends to match CPU spec lifespan, so they guarantee to fail just in time for a new buy. I couldn't find a dedicated forum, but may be some frequent members here can help, where else such boards hardware & repairs are discussed in the world in any language?

Well, the board this complicated without the diagram then it is matter of probing the board with meter for the Voltages and using the scope for looking at the clock signals, etc., it is how much time someone willing to put into it, you do not have the scope do you? How much time and money are you willing to spend to get proper tools? e are working blind without the diagram. It is lots easier to troubleshoot down to component level with the diagram since you can see what test points you should be looking at, but since you are not a tech or the Engr then you may not really understand exactly what are needed to accomplish the task.
BTW, lots of people @BC do troubleshoot down to components level and lots of time may take a long time to accomplish due to the fact that we do not even have the boards in front of use to actually look at.

Re: Mele S1 doesn't spin drives

I'm not an electronics tech, but relatively hands on with PCBs, and did some FW mods so used UART a lot for testing, can follow relevant instructions, but they're scarce at this point. Will try to find a diagram for this device or similar from the same OEM manufacturer, as they often stay with similar PCB layout and components for the same CPU despite putting different brand names on the faceplate. Can anyone suggest a forum where such schematics are posted?

Will also get extra tools mentioned earlier in this thread, since they seem necessary for such cases, but delivery from China now takes a lot longer up to 2 months since they mostly use "seller shipping method" whatever it means.
