Samsung LE37S86BD volume at 255 or 200% when turned on

Hi All

This is a strange one and i think it needs the firmware updating but want to get your input

The set came to me with the fault that the volume is stuck on full

I thought it would be the side buttons and was hoping for an easy fix

Got the set and it needed some caps on the PSU and also a new gamma chip on the tcon

The simple fault with the volume looks anything but simple - when you first turn the set on the volume is full, well in fact double full its well over the the right hand side of the screen !

It allows you to turn it down and the bar starts moving left but leaving a distorted picture behind. When you eventually get to where full would be if in the center ( ie normal full ) the sound goes back to full. You can then use the volume as normal all the way down and back up but the distorted bar left behind always remains

It would be ok if it didn't leave the bar on the right

Iv tried a reset from service menu and had a good look for sound options that might effect it but cant find anything.

Im think firmware update would fix but with no usb that wont be easy

any thing else i can try ?

I have scrap boards from similar sets so if i knew what chip was at fault i could try swapping

I've exactly the same faulty, on a Samsung LE32S67BD. Distorted bar included.

Have you advanced anything?

I would guess bad cells in either your serial flash ic or eeprom. If you get the volume down to normal and power cycle the tv with the remote does the volume remain normal ?

Nope, OFF-ON and again volume at 200%. How could I fix serial flash or eeprom? With no USB, I cant update firmware...

Hi!

I have tried the audio jack, and it works perfect with any jack plugged. So I'll take the audio from there, instead of replace main board.

Hi all

Ok update so far

Iv tried a new Eeprom chip still the same

Where is the serial flash located and does it have to be blank or pre programmed

Set aint worth putting a nice sound bar with it lol
