Its the same with backlights plugged in or out. There is a power diode that goes from 115 steady voltage to backlight ckt' and it is steady at all times. A couple of filter cap are there but they are good. There is a ckt. that goes from pos. side and think it might be shut down ckt. Don't know for sure. A schematic would be a big help. Any thoughts?
Are you talking about the V+?
1A/B/C (same for 2, 3, and 4) are the Cathode for the current return lines through the PWM control MOSFETs.
What do you get on all of those 12 pins?

Re: 47 inch lg model 47lx6500 blacks out

Hi guys im working on this exact set, customer states watching tv backlight switched off.
so far i have stripped it down and removed lcd no visible burnt led (edge lit set 4 lots of leds) i have tested from v+ to each return wire on switch on all strips are the same about 131 volts. Whats odd the backlight has now turned on and stay on. I tried re booting the tv a few times what i have noticed though on boot up about 1/3 of screen leds top and bottom light up bright the other 2 thirds are lit but not as bright? then all of a sudden they go full brightness like the rest, could this be a power supply fault? drive on i presume is back light on which is 5 volts on every switch on (even if back lights fail it still is 5v) any help appreciated.

budm posted in post 12 this, so leds lighting like they do could this be normal on switch on?
This LG has this feature called LED Plus Technology:
        From LG: LED Plus Technology
Tired of dark scenes or dull colors? LG's LED Plus technology provides even greater control of brightness through local dimming to deliver amazing clarity and color detail, as well as a more energy efficient TV compared to conventional TVs.
It has more than TWO LED strings, as you can see on the sub board, there are many PWM Controlled power MOSFETs for a bunch of LED strings to achieve local dimmimg.
budm also mentioned it has twelve strips it has (4 each strip has 3 sections)

          Poor connections between strips?
I assume no responsibility for any stupid suggestions I might post.

its a odd strip it probably has 30 leds on each strip (4 in set each on own heatsink) on the end of led strip is a connector with 4 wires on which then goes straight to the psu i will try and get a picture .

Just been looking at this tv again each led strip has 66 leds broken into 3 sections hence 4 wires per strip I have tested all the sections using a led tester all draw, same voltage and amps.I have found a cheap psu/led driver board on ebay so going too try a board swap if that solves the issue I will use new board to fault find the original I will update the thread when it's fitted
              .
