Samsung pn64e533d2f no pic sound ok

Picked up this tv from someone that didnt want it because it had stopped turning on. Only history I know is that it started failing over time. It would turn on at times and run fine but would have to hit the power button multiple times before the picture came on. Then one day it never came on but still had sound.

I opened it up and checked for bad caps and found none. Did the flashlight test and there seems to be no image. then started checking voltages and noticed that VS and VA drop shortly after start up. I disconnected the y and z boards and the same thing happens. What could I check next?

Im familiar with checking voltages and continuity just not too familiar with checking ohms, mosfets, ets.

Let me know what you think. Thanks for the help in advance.

Flashlight test only works on LCD/LED panels, Plasma creates its own light so if you have no screen prime you will never see a picture.

These panels are known for their shotty Y and Z boards also there is a Samsung must firmware update for all their plasma panels if you have not done so update your firmware ASAP after fixing this.

Does your TV run with just the Y board attached to the SMPS or just the Zsus?

You probably have a bad power supply.
Reflow the blue ceramic capacitors that are on the upper side of the board between that middle heat sink and transformer. Check for cracked solder joints all over the board as well. Now try turning on your tv and let us know what you get.
If that doesn't work then start from the beginning and isolate your power supply. Disconnect every connector form it, and short PS-ON to ground and VS-ON to 5volt line using a 1k resistor. Now plug the tv in, and check your VS and VA lines. If you don't get proper voltage, then you have a bad power supply and we can move forward on testing it on component level. 3 out of 3 of these sets with similar symptoms that I have fixed all had a cracked solder joint on that little blue ceramic cap.

Samsung UN70NU6900F no picture and no sound
        by jchang
        Hi all

I was just given a Samsung TV with the issue. I read various threads and videos and attempted the ribbon tape method to gain an image, but no luck.

        Symptom:
        No picture no sound.
When I plug in the power cord, Backlight LED turns on for a half second and then turns off. The red LED next to the power button located center bottom flashes 2 or 3 times. When the power button is pressed after, it does the same thing.
        No sound at all.

        What I tried:
        1. I tried unplugging the left or right ribbon...

Samsung UE60KU6079 backlight okay mainboard responsive, no picture, no sound
        by Ierwin
        Hello everyone,
Ive got a UE60KU6079 on the workbench that is giving me some headaches trying to troubleshoot.
The previous owner stated that there had been white dots on the screen which from the description sounded like some lenses fell of the backlight LEDs.
He had opened the TV from the back, trying to get to the backlight, supposedly gave up, reassebled everything and gave the TV to me.
I expected the worst like ripped COF cables or a cracked panel but could not find anything like that yet.
Anyway I still fully expect that there has been something seriously damaged...

        by ChaosLegionnaire
so i took out one of my spare gigabyte ep35-ds3r mobos from storage for use to do some cpu, ram and video card testing of stuff i bought from ebay and got for free from momaka. he bought 50 e8400 cpus for cheap from ebay some years ago and i decided to help him relieve him of some of his supply since he had waaaay too many!! what did we say about hoarding too much stuff and depriving others of them?! *cough* socialism *cough* lol!

i had to blow some dust off the board and heatsinks with the datavac as i didnt clean it up before putting it in storage. after finishing...
