I used two 0.1uf 630V caps to substitute the MLCC caps, and now the TV runs for 5 seconds with the Zsus buzzing loudly, then it shuts off.

DO I need to add more caps, or just get another board?

Were the original caps actually short or didn't you test after removing them?

IF those go short--They usually self-destruct and leave huge evidence in their wake!
--IF they looked normal--They were prob OK and possibly the 'S/C' reading was because they are mounted across an inductor--or several!

So--IF the caps LOOK Normal Chances are--They ARE normal.

Wouldnt waste any dosh on an old EDTV 480p 'V7! Ive one in work, cant be bothered with, as no one will buy a set with no DTV or HDMI--Damned thing works too....

Re: ILO PDP4210ea1 unstable Buffer Voltage from Ysus

I measured once I removed them, no more short!

Some of the SMD MLCC caps varied in color from light grey to almost black, obvious signs of heat damage, the picture isn't clear enough to see the difference in color, sorry.

I have a feeling the IPM is blown open and that is why I don't detect a short in that chip. Failed I just find it weird that it didn't shut the TV off with the shorted caps in place. It could be possible that I used too much capacitance, and the IPM is still good, I am taking a shot in the dark, I may just get another Z-Sus board, this is not my TV, or I would have parted it out.

I just compared it to another 50" LG Z-Sus board, and the parallel rows of MLCC caps are shorted too.........

I wonder if those are really SMD inductors I have mistaken for caps......

They are labeled with a "B" prefix like B10, B11, etc.

I am usually good with Plasma TV, but this is a real stumper. I am probably frustrated out of desperation. I'm starting to wonder if the screen is bad again...........

Regardless, I am still learning, and will keep learning. I want to know what this is, so if another TV crosses my path, I will recognize the problem before spending hours on it trying to figure it out.

In the picture you have above showing the back of the tv off, aren't the y buffer boards are installed upside down?

LG 42PC3 buffer output doesn't follow YSUS
              by legg
LG42PC3D -UD originally with green lamp but no display or audio.
Owner says was working, then went 'pop'.
              All 5V caps bulging. replaced.
All PSU output voltages within spec but -Vy is low on YSUS.
One of three parallel fets between SUS_OUT and SUS_DN is zenering,
eventually shorts DG. Replaced all 3 - -Vy now OK.

Y scan buffer test point does not follow YSUS output below -50V

Note: This unit seems to expect YSUS output to park at -Vy in between
drive signal pattern periods. A replacement drive signal board confirms this....

Panasonic TH-L42D25A checking the PSU output voltage
              by electron_jj
Hi Everyone, I am new to this forum. I have a Panasonic LED TV which doesnt turn on and is blinking 4 times repeatedly when I turn on the switch. The TV does not respond to the remote control so I had to turn on using the physical switch on the side of the TV. When I turn on the switch the 4 x blinking starts and repeat itself until I turn off the TV. There is a black screen. I turned off the light in the room to check the panel and I think there is no backlight as far as I can tell.

I have been inspecting and testing the capacitors and diodes in the power supply board to try to...

Trip light 2400 watt line conditioner bought used issue with low voltage oscillation going on between relays
              by sam_sam_sam
I found two capacitors on the board and one of the leads on one capacitor had bad soldering joint and the other joint connections not much better and there were several soldering joints that way to much flux around the joint redid several of them

The capacitors were a non brand that I did not recognize they got replaced and now it does not oscillating between relay but what concerns me a little bit is when the voltage is a little bit low the output voltage is around 130 volts and then drops down to 115 volts this happens around 105 to 108 volts if remember correctly

              Now...

              Problem

This is an LG edge LED lit LCD Display. The LEDs are on the bottom edge of the display. There are 2 bars (left and right) Each bar has many LEDs and a 6 pin connector. Each pin drive several LEDs thus is the highest current flow / heat junction. The weak lead free solder gradually fails with thermal expansion/contraction cycling and increases resistance. PSU will compensate up to a point, then when the current is too high, PSU just shut down the backlight causing a dark display. I have even seen one which the connector just fell off as solder points became completely detached....
