Do they go bad because another component cased it to go bad?

common fault, heat, loose screws poor earths,wear & tear......pick one

In the 2011 series I've touched 5 Tvs.

3 standard FHD U30 series (S30 equivalents)

Rough hours but

3800hrs - shorted SU, couple of loose screws on the sc
5400hrs - shorted SU, couple of loose screws on the sc
8000hrs - shorted SC(dead short sc2), majority of loose screws on the sc((board repair was 4 x 30F131)

3D, FHD ST30 & GT30 series

GT30 16800hrs, second Sc failure, some screws were loose (board repair was 3 x 30F131, 3 x RJP30H2.)
ST30 10 000hrs, SC failure, some screws were loose((board repair was 3 x 30F131, 3 x RJP30H2.))

Ok. Then I can buy another sc or sell the parts from the other. Almost seem to be more money in the parts on eBay than trying to sell a functioning TV.
If I list here locally, people well just say they cab buy a newer one for just as cheap.
They don't understand the difference between plasma and the lcd Tvs.

So tw2005 you agree the sc I have is shorted and it needs repaired?

You told us SC2 is shorted, and it 7 blinks with SC50 jumpered, buffers removed.

What'll frustrating is you'll still be a SC board shy But I guess when you get it back you can try it in the other too. If SC2 was shorted then that's conclusive

I'm not skilled enough to repair it. I will send it out if the sc board needs repaired.
I made a typo on my other posts. Sc2 is shorted I believe? I get 0 ohms.
Or whatever it's called. Lol, the opposite of when I have a blown fuse. No continuity.

At least you have an SC board now. Not sure, I think you leave it in the same state and remove the ribbon sc20. If it goes to 6 blinks, then the SC needs repair. You might want to wait for tw2005 to reply on that. By removing that ribbon, you are checking the A board to make sure its just not throwing out a 7 blink. If it goes to 6 then it means the A board is functioning. You might check out ShopJimmy and look for the SC repair kit.. I just finished soldering in the kit on my55gt30 and I got rid of the 7 blink code and tv stays on. I tried it first the way you have yours right now and it stayed on. Unfortunately I need a SU board. I remove the shorted chip on the SU board and put both buffers in, knowing there were no shorts and with both buffers in, the tv stays on, but no display. The screen just flashes and no video. I will be on the look out for a SU board. You can check your SC board by taking your meter in ohms and go across the mosfets. I am sure you will find some shorted. You have to check the diodes with the ground on the tab and the red probe to each leg, however if the mosfets are shorted then it probably shows a short on the diodes. Do you have the board with heatsinks glued on?? I screwed up once not knowing there were mosfets under the heatsinks and I ended up blowing up a buffer. Stupid mistake.

They even gave me 2 pairs of 3d glasses and all the connections that came with it for component and the wifi dongle.

Ok, got it home, did what I was told.
Took the screw out of the su and sd boards, disconnected them from the sc board.
Measured su and sd boards as tw2005 instructed.
Again my meter was set as in the picture in the first page.
Su board: VF55 12.10, VSCN OL, VFO OL
Sd board: VF5N 9.46, OL for the rest.
Checked all of those pins for short, just like the other TV, no beeping, meter stayed on OL as I checked all of them.

I put a hard drive jumper on SC50, 7 blinks.
Checked SC2 ohms.

It's in the back seat of my Camry now. I took the stand off.
The other one I picked up in my 2008 Honda Civic. I took the bottom back seat out before I went.
I carried it out of the house, down stairs by myself, put it in the back and the door wouldn't close. I had to turn it about 45 degrees to get the door shut. With the stand. I hadn't brought a screwdriver with me.

My list above was the non working tv's. My 2 working ones are a 60" and 50" lg plasma.

I just have one tv in my living room, it's a Pioneer Elite that I bought new 8 years ago and the picture quality is as good as the day it was new!!! Now my garage is a different story. I have 3 working TV's I have on CL right now and I have about 8 project TV's including 3 Panasonics. I used to repair the big projection tv' s and that was a nightmare as far as room. I had 10 at one time in the garage. Wife wasn't too happy. DLP's aren't quite as bad but I try to stay away unless someone wants theirs fixed. Good luck on picking up the Panny. If you have not got it yet, I usually take it off the stand for transport or if you have a big truck, I strap it behind the cab. If you lay it down, remove the stand.

I do have hard drive jumpers.
I started with computers, moved to fixing wireless routers, now I'm trying this.
I do know one thing. Pcs and routers take up a lot less room. Lol
I have this 55" Panasonic, a 42" Panny, a 40" Samsung and a 50" lg.
Wife isn't happy.

Malachi, when you get it home, verify the 7 blinks. I would take all the screws off the buffers and disconnect all the connections. You can leave the panel ribbons connected, but move the buffers away from the SC board. You need to jumper that sc50 connector. I know I said an alligator clip, but someone said you can use a hard drive jumper if you have one of those. I never tried it, just heard you can. Once you are there, turn it on and see if it stays on, or it goes back to 7 blinks. If it does blink 7, then its usually the SC board. There is always a possibility it could be an A board, but that doesn't happen too often. If it's 7 blink you can check resistance on the SC board to verify. Post your results, I am sure tw2005 and others will have more info for you.

AS long as you have a van or truck or something..and place it CAREFULLY on a GOOD pad..a LOT of it...you should be ok. BUT..if you try and jam it into the back of a car seat..that is NOT a good idea. And i would NOT recommend carrying it alone. Doing so is likely to stress the panel at corners and thy do NOT like that ...A smaller one ok...but a 55 is pretty big...

I have repaired a bunch of these tv's and I'm not sure if everyone else agrees, but these panels dont go bad very often. There is always that possibility but I dont know. Usually if the panel is bad you will see damage inside. Panasonic tells you to inspect panel for any irregularity in the panel. Best way to check is haul it out in the sun and look closely at the pixels. From what I understand, you will see like a burn mark in it. I am kinda thinking the repair guy told him the panel was bad and the grabbed the SC board, but who knows. When ever I buy a tv on Craigslist I learned to ask if anyone has worked on it. I generally pass if someone has only from learning my lesson. People can butcher a tv trying to repair it. I had a guy tell me he attempted a repair and I bought it and opened it up. It looks like he used a propane torch and destroyed an SC board. I could not even repair the traces it was that bad. So I had to replace the board. Its always discouraging but at least you dont have a bunch of money in it. I have paid over $100.00 for a non working Panasonic only because they are great tv's when working.

I will second this. I worked on these sets when they were BRAND NEW. panels did NOT go bad too often and when they DID...I VERY rarely saw one whack another board. Now...I DID see a NUMBER of NEW panels get KILLED..because some "techs" (KIDS--ALL under 30 most under 25..with NO real electronics experience)..ALL had a BAD habit of just tossing a panel in WITHOUT worrying about discharging the VA line. Doing that CAN Whack an address buffer...and THEN..you will get a missing or messed up column..on a NEW panel.

But Pana panels are NOT known for whacking SC or buffer boards repeatedly...like I HAVE seen on Samsung sets !!

No no , you don't understand! ( or my english is bad haha ).

You now have the GT with a missing SC board. Because the board is missing the tv gives you the 8 blinking leds.

You are bidding on a VT which is a "better" tv then the GT but the VT is showing 7 blinks , which means most of the times that the SC board is bad. ( Loose screws ).

So in both cases you either need a new SC board for the GT or VT ..... OR you need a repair set for the VT.

No bidding. It doesn't work that way. I just buy it. Might go get it tomorrow.
