    LG 50PT350 power failure

    I have an LG plasma tv with a power failure. The power comes on, but the standby LED stays solid red. I narrowed it down to the main board. I get all my voltages, including VA and VS. For some reason, when I disconnect the main board from the P/S, the voltages are all present on the p/s, YSUS and XSUS. I used the flow chart in the service manual and it says to check flash memory.

    Has anyone ever encountered this problem? Is it a faulty flash chip.
    The customer did say that the tv stops working after a lightning storm and the main breaker blew. Could this have erased the flash memory?

      Hi all!

      I'm trying to troubleshoot a Microsoft Surface Pro (5th gen) model 1796 that won't power on. Motherboard model is M1007506-015. My priority is retrieving data, but the SSD is integrated so it looks like if I can't repair it it'll need to go to a data recovery company. I've done a little basic board repair before, but nothing this advanced until now. So please forgive my ignorance in advance. ๐Ÿ˜…

      I found the boardview for this laptop in the forums here, and am able to open it on my PC with FlexBV.

      Acer TravelMate P214 - N19Q7 main power rail shorted to ground

      Dear all,

      I have taken out the motherboard of a Acer TravelMate P214. There is a short to ground on the main power rail (19V). I don't have the schematics or boardview for this board (DAZ8IMB1AA0 REVA). But I have found 4 MOSFETS close to the main power rail : 2 N-Channel and 2 P-Channel.

      I have checked resistance across each of the 4 MOSFETS. I have the following readings:
      Both N-Channel Mosfets: nothing odd

      P-Channel MOSFET number 1:
      source - drain : 117 kOhm
      source - gate: 96 Ohm
      gate - drain: 117 kOhm

      Issue: No Power, Then Rebooting After Main Board Change

      Short answer: replace main board and power board
      Technical answer: replace main board and Q306 & Q307 on power board.

      Long answer:

      TV wouldn't turn on. Power switch was fine which means the main board isn't processing the power on signal. Replaced main board. TV turns on now but randomly reboots. Bad main board? EEPROM? Tried to pull main board and got a shock touching the corner of the board. That's weird. C334 (450V 10uf) capacitor is still holding a high charge....

      Hi guys,

      This is my first post! ๐Ÿš€
      I have no idea what Iโ€™m doing, but Iโ€™m learning by trial and error.

      Iโ€™m currently working on a Dell Optiplex AIO 7490โ€”one of a bunch of AIOs that mysteriously failed to POST just a few days after the warranty expired. The original issue was that the PC worked fine until it was rebooted, after which it got stuck on a black screen (no backlight), with fans spinning at normal speed and a solid white power LED. Forcing it off by holding the power button would just cause it to switch on automatically and get stuck again on...
