Samsung UE40D6100 TV buzzing capacitor, PLEASE help!

Hi, so i have this TV which started to give buzzing noise. i`ve opened it up and located the noisy part straight away. it`s the capacitor 2W105K, SIC460S. Ordered new one, replaced and to my huge disappointment does exact same thing:/ also i`ve noticed by increasing or lowering the backlight level noise varies. Did a multimeter testing and could not find any faulty - shorted parts. Any tips where the problem lies?? Thanks in advance

P.S uploaded a video online with the issue as well if it helps:

Just out of curiosity, can you check the Diodes on your Bridge Rectifier.

some update... got a donor board yesterday, that has physical broken board on one side but all parts good, replaced all inductors, one transformer, most of surrounding caps and still getting same result... it drives me nuts!

BTW, do you have good clear straight shot pictures of the bottom side of the board?
Is it the CM802 (Cin) that is buzzing? It is connected to the output +/- of the bridge rectifier.
I found these pix on the web for the BN44-00458B but not 100% sure it matched your board completely or not, please verify.
Need to get the P/N of that PFC controller IC ICP201.
Similar circuit used in the bn44-00428 except the use of the pi filter.
I think the low noise Polypropylene should be used.

ISTM that the OP believes that CP802 or CP801 (in the BN44-00428B PDF) is responsible for the buzzing. This capacitor is part of the pi filter (LC filter on the OP's PCB) at the output of the bridge rectifier. I wonder if it is LP801 or LP802 that is the real culprit.

Sorry, my typo, it is CP802. P for PFC section.
The example BN44-00428 PDF has the Pi filter after the + output of the bridge but his board BN44-00458 does not have the Pi filter after the bridge output.

Perhaps the OP could cram some styrofoam into or under LP801 to see if this changes the quality of the buzzing. Alternatively, some technicians advocate spraying PCB lacquer to quieten noisy coils.

I think he should try the low noise PP cap as show on those PDF spec sheet, obviously they make them due to noise problem.

I confess that I've never encountered acoustically noisy capacitors, but it appears that it is a well known phenomenon.

                          Reduce-acoustic-noise-from-capacitors:
                          http://www.edn.com/Pdf/ViewPdf?contentItemId=4364020

I guess you're never too old to learn something. Thanks.

Just a thought. Would it be worth removing the capacitor to see if the noise goes away? Of course you would still replace it if it is confirmed to be the culprit.

thanks for all your replies and suggestions lads, really appreciated! Want to confirm that the problem is solved now Thanks to the donor board i had... after checking every single part and not finding anything suspicious on an original board, i decided to swap part by part in most suspicious areas. Everything was giving same results until i came to ICP801S which is SPC7011F. After replacing this troublemaker all came back to normal. I guess in some way it was leaking, since even being faulty TV would still operate as normal, just giving this annoying buzzing noise. Once again thanks for replies guys!

I would never have picked the IC. That's a real surprise. I wonder what would happen if the patient IC were now transferred to the donor PCB. Would the donor PCB buzz? I'm not suggesting that you try this, though.

Just FYI, I found the datasheets for the white capacitors:

I am surprised too, in the link that Vince provided, the person replace the board and it was quiet for a while and then the same problem happen on the replacement board. So we just have to wait and see if the problem will come back.

unfortunately donor board has badly broken textolite, otherwise i would not get it so cheap. Two IC`s were compared when out of the boards, went through the legs with multimeter and was getting slightly different numbers, however no shorts. As a replacement caps i bought those ones:

Re: Samsung UE40D6100 TV buzzing capacitor, PLEASE help!

One odd thing that I notice about the SPC7011F IC is that it appears to be an alias for the FA5695:

In fact if you search for "SPC7011F" within the FA5695 datasheet, you mostly find "FA5695".

                                      Very strange ...

                                        Hi everyone,

I'm new to this, so I apologize for not providing enough details. Is there anything else I need to mention? I'm trying to learn more about electronic/board repairs and hopefully fix my own.

The only visible issue on my board is one capacitor, CP813, which appears to be labeled R 221k 2kV (possibly obsolete to B 221k 2kV now). My monitor hadn't shown any prior issues, although it is a few years old. Just before the capacitor popped, there was a high-pitched squeal for 2–3 seconds.

I don't see any other visible damage anywhere else on the board....
