Hey gang, second post here for me.
I just bought a broken LG 50PZ550-UA. Haven't even tested it yet and all that was said is that "it turns on but will not hold power, the display starts a little dim an then goes completely dark and there's no sound either and the red LED stays energized". This happened during a thunder storm where in power was lost (not a local lightning strike), short power loss where the TV never came back but all other components plugged into the surge protector did (cable set top box, nintendo wii, blu ray player).
I found two threads here about this model with similar problem and it seems some members are well adept at troubleshooting steps down to the Vin/out and particular boards but the threads just stopped with discussion and I didn't want to try and pick up where they left off.
I'm patient here as I have a Samsung 42" 720p that is my working unit so I will take my time. I am comfortable with a multi meter and replacing surface mount components.
I just chatted with LG as well and they are sending a service manual too.
So I hope someone can get me started here on the first few steps

Thanks,
Roy
