and one other question for everyone.....can a z board be bad even though the main fuses are good and the ipm tests not shorted and the heat sink gets warm when tv on

Preheating the board will slow down the heat dissipation and makes removing the parts easier. I hit it for a few seconds with a heat gun, the type that you remove paint with. Just don't get it too hot. That and I flood the pins with some fresh leaded solder.

And I use a wide chisel tip. It gets more heat to the board. Sometimes I just flood all the pins together and pull the component out with a probe too. Clearing the small holes after is what frustrates me.

update.....tv fixed...it was bad z

original replacement was defect....2nd replace works great

board only costed 30.00 shipped.....awesome...got tv for 10.00 as is

beautiful pucture too

fyi.....on z if fuses ok and ipm doesnt test shorted..board can still be bad.....i proved it

yeah im happy.........basic testing i have learned from here helps....otherwise i could have wasted more time and money buying a y board.....which the common person would do sibce the first z i bought didnt fix it..........biggest lesson is that buying a working used board off ebay is a crap shoot at best....but the 2nd z i bought the guy said it was in a tv and had pic so he persinally jnew it worked

i have repaired over 100 lcd plasnas over past few yrs...its a hobby...lot of headaches lot of failures....i have 40 repaired lcd plasmas in my basement......lol.....i keep them why?????....have no clue....they r worthless.....ill say one thing though....new lcd tvs are cheap priced because they are cheap made.....u can not compare a 2007 lcd with a 2015 lcd....the 2015 is cheap as helk made......pure junk.....

Thats very true all tvs today are pure shit basically im running a pioneer kuro 428xd as my personal tv its 10 years old almost but it will outlast any tv nower days from brand new. You should look into get some proper soldering equipment it will save you a heck of alot of money in the long run and earn you alot more. I cant live with out mine tbh I use it almost as much as my multimeter.

yes im very under equipped......but it is a hobby...not a job......i dont know a lot but i do like to tinker.......if there was money in tv repair i would learn the trade and do it for $....but tv repair for $ unfortunately is dead...since tvs are considered dispisable now.....there are almost no tv repair shops anymore due to disposability of tvs now

Ahh right I see fair enough, Tv repair here in the Uk is very different I work with two other guys in a partnership we repair tvs and we make a fair bit of £ each. I have done over 260 lcd, led and plasma tvs (261 to be precise) I started out as a hobbies but now do it as a job. I enjoy repairing tvs though and earn from it

here in the usa there is no demand for tv repair....its a dead business......tvs are disposable ......people throw them away and buy a new one since a new tv costs less than repair........

Yeah that's a shame, over hear in the uk we get at least 2 customer tv repairs each day one day we had 5 in a day :O Also we buy a lot of broken tvs, repair them and sell them as refurbished.

u cant do that here in usa....no money...u would lose money repairing a broken tv and trying to resell.....resale values are pretty much nothing here......because new tvs are so cheap.....42inch lcd led tvs go for less than $200.00 usd here brand new......a used one would sell for under 100.00

well before they stopped making plasma tvs u could get a brand new 50 inch panasonic pladma for $450.00 -500.00 usd here

You can get 50" hd lower end led tvs around here for £450 new however. I remember back in 2008 a 46" generic lcd tv was around £800.
