Thanks all for your help. Modus didn't take the repair because part # didn't match but the samcomponent from ebay did an excellent job and fast turn around. he even touched up the solder joint of the coils that were slightly shown cracked sign from bottom of board. Tv is operational again now!

I wonder why only 3 resistors when each has 2? anyway looking at your board it does appear just 2 will be needed.

And yes, drive cct as you stated and it was intentional when I cropped that to have that visible for reference so you had an idea what other bits to watch for.

If going down that path and Modus , this is what I'd do.

Send them a message, attach the web link for the other version board they do do and the price for the 60PZ550, then highlight or give them your board number which visibly looks the same.

Mention what you found, i.e. fuse xyz open, Q ??? shorted, Rxyz & R abc (10 ohm burnt) for corresponding transistor.

then mention you've removed these items, hopefully the board is still good and you have not damaged the lands.

take good clear images of the whole board top and bottom, take close ups of where you've worked .

    attach them to the email.

then ask if they can do your board for the same price as the other.

All going well they do the same deal and sort it out for you.

From all reports back, they're pretty good and on the odd occasion of a bad repair sort that out to but this should be pretty straight forward for them. easier than Ysus in my opinion

    good luck

modus should be able to repair for the same price as this board. $73

    http://www.moduslinkptstvboards.com/EBR73561701/

I'd point out both that and EBR67820001 are fitted to 60PZ550 and look to be physically same , I'd expect they both fail the same and the above revison does have different gate drive resistor values maybe in an attempt to reduce failures?

    or

    http://www.ebay.com/itm/REPAIR-SERVI...item33a1502921

But I'd give preference to modus.

I can't be sure what the 4th item is but I'd check Q205,206,207 and D215,239 for short.

It might also be worth trying to cleanup those ICs in that drive cct and identify the part numbers.

This is a kit for that other revision board, $10 cheaper and 50% more parts

    http://www.ebay.com/itm/PARTS-PACK-f...item33a2e6a260

    6pcs TO-220 FETs
    1pcs Fuse
    9pcs surface resistors

If you're going to spend $5 USD on a 5 fuses and $6 USD on just 1 IGBT, I think the $20 kit is a smarter option. The resistors may not match yours but since it's for the other board but if that was the case find them separate or replace the entire lot supplied in the kit, I doubt it will matter.

You could pop a message to the seller explaining you have a different version and confirm the kit has the same transistors as fitted to your board.

SLP5188 prices are quite high compared to other sellers.

    fuse should be fine

There is a kit for $30, 10 components

I can see 4 x TO220 devices. and 3 smd resistors but package could be folded over meanin could be 6 resistors which makes more sense since each FGPF4633 IGBT has 2 x 10 ohm on the gate.

that gives a total 10 components.
Kits don't always cover every scenario, ,just the common ones.
    http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/LG-EBR678...item2c9b5866ab

    The TO220 components would most likely be 3 x FGPF4633 + ?

I would expect the ? will be a fast rectifying diode in TO220.

If all that is true then that implies the drive cct may survive.

So if the mystery TO220 can be identified and the other 2 IGBTS are not short then there's a chance this could fire up and produce an image on just the 2 remaining just for a quick test .

But that's risky stuff and since these appear to be rare and most likely a common failure in these you certainly don't want to burn up the board just in case you have to send it off for repair. I'd expect ModuslinkPTS will do these

that's an axial mounted fuse, that's how they're made with leads.

The other bits Allistair is referring to is that cluster of parts in that image I put up. you can see the drive cct

Can you please elaborate? I'm new at this . attached is the circuit around this heatsink, what else can i check?

Took out Q212 and the two burned resistors. Q210 and Q208 is no longer shorted. they stay open(read 1 on left side) when I touch the legs.

where can I get 6.3ah250vp fuse replacement? (open fuse is blown fuse right?) Also, can the fuse holder be removed? they don't seem to budge. I had to unsolder the fuse holder but they still don't want to let go of the fuse.

ok, you'll need a new zsus or could see if you can get lucky with this one trying to repair it.

I'd remove that transistor that those burnt out reistors are andthe resistor too, then check the other 2 transistors again

I would not bother, they sound shorted. You could start with removing that transistor with the burnt resistors, then retest the other 2.

    Troubleshooting Samsung PN60E550D1FXZA Plasma TV
    by HarleyFool
I have a Samsung 60-inch plasma TV, model PN60E550D1FXZA with factory remote. When cold, the TV will turn on and operate normally. After operating for longer than 30-60 minutes, if the set is turned OFF and then back ON, it will turn back ON, but there is no picture (screen remains black). I can confirm set is ON because I can hear audio from the speakers when I operate the VOLUME UP/DOWN control on the remote. If I allow the TV to rest (cool), it will eventually turn back ON with picture restored. That may take an hour or overnight.

I have removed the back of the TV and looked...

practical courses for troubleshooting pc motherboards
    by blues_spirit
    Hello from France,
mon2 kindly advised me to post a thread to ask the question(s) I'm concerned about. I'm new to the forum and I'm looking for practical courses for troubleshooting pc motherboards especially laptops in Europe, if possible in France. I have been a computer network system administrator and a corrector of administration modules for automated programs under Unix. But I really miss the practical "ops" side of troubleshooting. So I would like to start from the beginning: 1.8V, 3.3V, 5V and 19V tests for example, etc...
Do you think this is feasible for me? I...

    LG 50PA4500 Plasma Troubleshooting
    by brassicGamer
Hi folks. This panel seems to be a 'favourite' on these forums. I've checked through all the existing posts and my issue doesn't match up with the common faults described. I think it might be the logic board.

I acquired it second-hand recently and the previous owner described the panel working fine until a power cut, when it only turned back on briefly. The apparent issue was that, when powered on, the TV would display the manufacturer logo and then go into standby mode. I figured this was the main board shutting it down after a test condition failed.

    I checked the...
