    samsung ue46d6530 problem

Hi guys I have the above tv that I've had for over a year now and it's starting to have a few lines running across the screen from the right

Anybody know if this is fixable ?

I've also noticed that the area with the problem is getting way too hot to the touch could this be the cause ?

    Any help is appreciated

    Thanks

Hi thanks for the reply should I be concerned that the area with the problem is getting extremely hot ??

As I'm still using the tv at the moment and I don't want it to catch on fire or somthing as I can't source a new one for a few weeks yet

      Thanks again

        Re: samsung ue46d6530 problem

It's probably not going to catch fire (there's not enough energy available to cause burning on the LCD matrix) but it could fail any day.

        Don't buy a new Samsung - they're junk!

          Thanks tom66

It's the second samsung to go bad on me now after a short time the only concern I have with it right now is how hot the right side is getting down where the power buttons are if u touch it it actually will burn u when on could this be a led issue ? And has caused the screen to go faulty ?

          Thanks

The LEDs look OK -- but it must have got real hot, because the panel backlight film is warping underneath.
Maybe it would be safest to leave it off.

Just an update for u guys I have solved the back light issue I tapped the corner where the fault is and the back lights are not so bright or making the corner mega hot it barely has any heat now does anyone know how I get the black part of the bezel from the screen ? As I can't expose the tab bonds or anything as I wanna see if there is something pressing on the screen causing the issue as my insurance company is replacing the tv on Tuesday with a brand new one and told me I can dispose of this one anyway I like so I've nothing to lose by having a look

Hi guys an update removed black bezel around screen powered the tv on to try and see if the side bonds was the cause and anyway smoke came from the area with the bad lines

Now the screen looks like this anybody want to have a guess at what's caused it to burn ??

                    Re: samsung ue46d6530 problem

The LED system has caused this problem.
This TV uses only 2 strips of LEDs, located on the left and right hand side of the TV. Right where those tab bonds are.

Each strip consists of more than 80 LEDs all tightly compacted.
It's a design flaw and Samsung sould be recalling all these sets imo.
The LEDs also are not covered by plastic domes that you see in other LED TVs.

Terribly designed TV and destined to fail early.

On a brighter side, the TVs boards are worth a decent amount, and the LED strips are easier to remove as they are screwed in rather than the God forsaken double sided tape used in some other sets.

                      Re: samsung ue46d6530 problem

Thanks for the reply hamie I thought it was as there is 2 leds where the damage is and it gets extremely bright then starts burning but if I turn it of and on a few times they resolve them self and stop burning

I contacted samsung regarding this and they told me there isn't anything they can do about it and my insurance company wrote the tv off so that's why I stripped it down

I'm using it still at the moment but cracked the panel slightly but it's not effecting the picture much

Thanks again for the reply would u say the leds caused the lines in the panel as well ?

                        Re: samsung ue46d6530 problem

Yeah it's got really hot and it's melted the tabs on the side of the TV.
You see these models all the time now same problem. Horizontal lines.

I've dismantled one of these in the last month with a cracked screen, but even then the guy i got From said that before he cracked the screen he was getting intermittent green horizontal lines.

Ticking time bomb, if you hadn't gotten a new TV through your insurance id have went to watchdog or suchlike, it's only a matter of time before Samsung get called out on this set.

                          I thought as much

Maybe I should have left it all alone before I removed the metal bezel and raised a problem with samsung and contacted watchdog as I wonder how many of these tv's have gone bad over the years ?

As where the screen cracked after i opened it is trying to display an imagine still

                            Thanks for any further advice

                              Re: samsung ue46d6530 problem

The formerly bonded ICs are integrated into the panel. Gate in Panel design.

This should actually make the panel more reliable... unfortunately Samsung seem to have somehow made these panels even less reliable (or is it AUO?)

I'm pretty sure this panel does have side tab bonds.
You'd have to remove the White plastic to see them.

I think this is part of the problem, usually to remove the panel of an older LCD you would remove the metal frame, and the panel would flop out, on this set the you remove the metal frame but the panel is held in place also by the white plastic that you need to unclip. The side tabs are also under the plastic, whereas before they were ontop. Also the benefit of them being ontop meant that some of the heat would be absorbed by the metal frame.
