DYNEX DX-46L262A12 acts like buttons are being pressed even with btn/ir board out

everything seems fine with this tv and then it just starts freaking out like someone is mashing the button board and nothing will make it stop, not even disconnecting the board.
must be a motherboard problem, right? anyone seen this before? is there some easy fix?
