Ok , i will see if i can find the same chip on one of my SU boards and replace it.
    Probably hard to desolder?

These may only be 100 pin which would make sense since they use 8 chips. The 2010 models dropped to 6 but 128pin. Without hot air I would say you have a tough job. Remember that silicone adheres the chip and is underneath it. Removing to discard is one thing but to get one off and re-use, that's a challenge. Good luck

Ordered the part from "flattvparts.co.uk" . Fast shipping but 1 of the chips on the board has a short and i still get a 7 blink error. Hopefully i get my money back.

The tv stays on when i use the jumper.

Can it be that i shorted this board immediately when i turned the tv on for the first time? ( all screws inserted ).
Or did i buy a defective board? What are the chances?

Flattvparts are not very good at checking their items. I've had several boards from them arrive DOA , even after asking them to check prior to shipping and giving them instructions on where to check. this was a few years ago now.

              They were well priced then.

Then they had a policy of the boards needed to be returned but for international they agreed that since the cost was excessive then they'd refund with evidence of the board destroyed.

I ended up lodging Paypal claim and eventually got my money back but i also had an email trail which showed I had discussed board tests. They were slow to act but i got what I wanted and ended up with a core board which now lives on thanks to me working out component level repair.

be careful fitting shorted buffer boards they can pop the SC.

Most of my stuff I get from payless components US. Been pretty good but did get a DOA. Got full refund with little effort and they did test some boards just before shipping at my request since I pointed out it was in their interest too since they refund the shipping. very good aftersales service.

Stocks of good used boards are dwindling for the older models so getting harder to pick and choose who you deal with.

Always check these yourself first. never trust what has been sent is good. Doubt you killed it unless the panel is shorted.

Odds are they sent you dud board going on my biased opinion of FlatTV

                  Thx for the detailed reply!

I had good hopes for "flattvparts" but I'm really disappointed. On arrival i inserted the board , checked all screws and turned on the tv and it went straight to 7 blinks. Only 1 chip is shorted but its to hard to repair , harder then A-15 chip.

Hope i get a replacement or my money back!

yeah, sometimes you don't know until you have a go. Did you try and damage the board or bailed out for a used board?

well , you could always keep praticing removing the old buffer ic. took me a couple of goes to get one off clean.

If it's SU Panasonic TNPA4784 SJ have 5,@ $17 USD, freight will push the price out a bit. Never had a problem with SJ as the parts were often from brand new damaged in transit Tvs.

What procedure did you use to lift the chip?

                                  Hot Air?

No, post #18 has a description. I've bitten the bullet and have a cheap rework station coming so i can try working on other things but getting that sealant off and I used acetone to help break it up but I found you needed to be liberal with it and constantly reapply since it's volatile and drys off fast but it did help.

the chips are too expensive but I'd love to have a go at some buffer boards.

Took it off with the IR, Gave it enough bottom heat to melt the solder then gently used needle tweezers to get into the sealant and lift the chip out of it... Used plastic spatula to scrape the majority of the sealant off afterwards.... Used an old chisel tip at 330c to heat and break up the remainder. Finished of with MEK then IPA.

you must be bored. It'd be nice to have all that gear but I did find using a solder iron tip broke it up. i think it's one of those jobs you have to practice and work out you're own way but it's good to share ideas.

that's why once that board was stuffed of mine I kept trying
