Vizio NS-PDP50HD Wont show picture but shows sound

Picked up a Vizio(NS-PDP50HD) 50 inch plasma that won't show a picture. The guy I got it from said that it has sound but no picture. I opened it up and the relay click twice when I plug it in, push the power button and the relay clicks and again and the logic board light come on and flash but it doesn't seem like a error code.

The power supply unit, has a whining noise coming from it too. When I push the power button, the whining changes. I attached a picture that has the one circled that is making noise.

I was thinking that the PSU need replaced but wanted to see what everyone thinks. I have checked the voltage yet but I did check the fuse on the PSU and it checked out.

I'd check the panel voltages first and if they are normal then maybe start at the ymain and buffers . There maybe bad caps on that PSU or something loading it down making it whine but I would not just rush out and get a PSU in hope

Okay.... I am a newbie at the this tv stuff.

I read that no picture but sound is normally a Y sustain Fault. Everyone is talking about the voltages, where do i check the voltages? The power leads from the PSU?? It also talks about a fuse on the y sustain board but I can't find one.

I attached a picture that I labeled, it is what I under stand the parts to be. Please correct me if I am wrong or point me in the direction of some newbie materials.

      thanks,

Vizio M65-E0 No Picture, No Sound
        by ggil44
Hi I inherited a Vizio M65-E0 that isn't working. It must have been dropped on the corner because I found that the infrared circuit had a capacitor with one end broken off of the board and some green corrosion around the plug to the main board. I re-soldered the capacitor and cleaned the corrosion well and tried turning the M65-E0 on and I was successful. My problem is that while the back lights come on and appear to perform local dimming there is no picture or sound. It kind of looks like you are looking at the TV through a very dense fog, where changing the input on the remote will change bright...

Samsung TV model UE50TU: rebooting, backlight, sound, but no picture
        by TR103
        Hi, I have a Samsung UE50TU with:
        - sound and backlight, but no picture
        - when it arrived, it had a picture for a few seconds
        - it keeps rebooting
        - without ribbon cable between the two panel boards, it does not reboot but I have no picture
        - without cable between mainboard and lcd panel, it does not reboot (but obviously i have no picture)
        - when i try a tape fix, its keeps rebooting, unless I tape off pin 1 (the innermost pin). In that case it does not reboot but I have no picture.

        - without cable between mainboard and lcd panel and with a jumpered...

Philips 58PUS7805/12 showed no picture; after T-Con replacement, shows halo
        by Rauni
Hello, this is my first post on this forum, and my first attempted to repair a TV.

My Philips 58PUS7805/12 stopped working recently. It is not that old, about 5 years. We were on a trip for a few days and when we came back, it had stopped working out of a blue (Perhaps our house was hit by a lightning strike? Don't know.)

Read from a guide that I should test if the screen shows picture with one of the T-Con cables disconnected. Did that, it showed perfect picture (first on left, later on right side).

Read also that we should test what happens if we...

Samsung UN60EH6000F Black Screen, Backlight and Sound Good. Power Cycle Returns Picture
        by Mgiffune
I have a 60 inch Samsung UN60EH6000F flatscreen TV. The screen went black a few months ago Sound is good, backlight is good, no menu. I replaced the TCon board with a used board purchased from Ebay. It worked fine for a 3-4 months, then the screen started ‘fading' back. Once again, sound is good, backlight is good, no menu. However, this time the picture looks fine for about 10-15 minutes, then fades back. If I power cycle the TV, the display reappears, for another 10-15 minutes, then fades black again. Repeatable ever time.

I ordered a supposedly ‘new' Tcon board this time, and

Samsung UE60KU6079 backlight okay mainboard responsive, no picture, no sound
        by Ierwin
        Hello everyone,
Ive got a UE60KU6079 on the workbench that is giving me some headaches trying to troubleshoot.
The previous owner stated that there had been white dots on the screen which from the description sounded like some lenses fell of the backlight LEDs.
He had opened the TV from the back, trying to get to the backlight, supposedly gave up, reassebled everything and gave the TV to me.
I expected the worst like ripped COF cables or a cracked panel but could not find anything like that yet.
Anyway I still fully expect that there has been something seriously damaged...
