Samsung PS-42C96HDX Distorted Colours and Black Lines

    Hello Everyone,

I could really use some help, I was given a Samsung PS-42C96HDX which wouldn't turn on or would take a really long time. After reading through these forums I found two swollen capacitors on the power board, replaced them and it switched straight on. However there are some very odd things going on with the screen. there is a half inch black line down the left of the screen and half way along the bottom, and the colours appear very distorted, there seems to be pink pixels jumping around in white areas, and green ones jumping around all over the shop. please excuse the photos I couldn't pause it so they are moving images hence the ghosting effect.

any help would be really, really appreciated

    Thanks - James

The half-inch black line is the worry--Prob a COF chip which is unrepairable.

The poor colour will be an issue with one of the SUS boards or one of the supplies generated on the Y-SUS...

that half inch black line could very well be panel failure especially since its only going across half the screen means that there may be a dead pixel for a line of dead pixels going that far out from the bottom with the TV off can you see any black dots where the phosphers are? the other problem may be related to a faulty control board or a main board issue or yes it can be the YSUS. however that problem is repairable and is most likely not the Panel. so if you were to repair that problem at least he might be able to sell it for a few bucks since the line problem is on the very bottom of the screen
Did I leave the soldering iron on?
