    Panasonic plasma TH-50PZ800U

Hello, the lower half of my Panasonic plasma TH-50PZ800U began showing problems about 10 days ago. When I first turn on the TV, the lower half of the screen is completely dark. After about 1 minute, some flickering video appears. The picture gets progressively better so at 3 minutes there is noticeably less flicker. After 10 minutes, the picture seems perfect. (note the photos below in which the picture gets progressively better over 10 minutes).

The time it is taking for the lower half of the screen to turn from dark to 100% working seems to be taking longer as the days progress.

From what I have read on this forum and others, it seems like a faulty Y board. I am unfamiliar with plasma tvs so would like a more knowledgeable opinion on this, and any sources for reliable spare parts if possible.

I really appreciate the help! Thanks for taking a look.

That is more likely the lower y buffer board. Working on TVs can be deadly if you don't know what you are doing so be warned.

Hi, I replaced the lower-y buffer board with a used, tested board:

TH-50PZ800U TNPA4407 Plasma SD Scan Drive Down Board Unit

There is somewhat of an improvement. Now, instead of a completely black lower screen, I now get thin black horizontal lines.

Is this a bad replacement board do you think? Or a lose connection somewhere?

See the picture below. Thanks so much! Steve

well, it was a loose ribbon -- I watched this YouTube video below and made me realize it was a loose ribbon:

So I made sure all the ribbons were fastened in securely and yeehaw it worked!

Thank you so much KevinCro! I really appreciate it.
