A Tale Of Two Main Boards, Phillips Plasma

I had a Phillips Plasma (don't have the model number handy) that I did something stupid with. After changing a bulging main cap, I plugged a connector from the power board to the main board in the wrong socket and was rewarded with a fine wisp of smoke coming from the main board..

OK, enough of the back story...

I bought a replacement main board and hooked it up.. It worked... Sorta...

The display only covers the left 2/3rds of the screen...

It occurred to me that the board I bought might not be the exact replacement. Like putting a Main Board from a 40" into a 50" TV.. You would get a size disparity..

But, the boards are virtually identical.. The only difference is the top set of numbers/letters on the pictured labels..

Other than that, the boards are numerically and component/connector placement identical..

Now to throw another idea out there, it's POSSIBLE that the TV had this problem PRIOR to my connector-challenged issue...

    So, my question is two-fold..

1- is there some difference in the main boards that would explain the lack of full screen

    or

B- if there isn't any difference in the main boards, what could cause the display size issue??

I realize that exact model number of the display and a pic of the display while on would help. I can get those tomorrow when I go to my shop...

Any hints or tips would be greatly appreciated...

I don't know but a search of the PCB number lead me to this.

Failure to configure the SSB can result in no picture, the picture being severely
shifted on the screen, and some features not functioning.

part shows it used in 32,42,50" Tvs , both LCD & Plasma

Incidentally, which number on the PCB did you use??

        Disregard

Seems I had the information when I posted...

Just didn't study it close enough...

Go in to settings menu. You will find an option there for screen
Size. I only barely remember due to seeing this a long time ago

Try swapping the eeprom from the old board to the new board if there is no option available in the service menu. Identical components doesn't necessarily mean identical boards.

              That did it..

The tag on the back did not have a SCREEN DIVERSITY CODE on it, but a search of the BadCaps forum produced one.. 085

So, I am good to go.. Many thanx to all...

Compatibility of main boards between different variations of samsung MU6100
                  by JSin21
                  Hoping someone here could possibly help. I have a few questions in regards to compatibility with main boards. But I'll give a quick short run down on what's going on first;

I have Samsung Smart TV UA65MU6100WXXY version DA01

Now years ago it started intermittently playing up after a lighting strike. Lighting hit the block of units i was living in at the time. Ever since that night the TV started having a mind of its own, It would randomly turn itself off or on, and all inputs stopped responding like HDMI, aerial, but USB still worked. Anyway, over the next few months...

Three 820-01700 32GB Logic Boards Same Issue: Won't Wake From Hibernate
                  by ugamazing
I have three identical-spec 820-01700 boards (2.6/32/512), and ALL THREE boards came to us with the same fault, from different sources: The boards don't wake from hibernation with the keyboard or lid, they ONLY wake when you press the power button. I understand this is a very minor issue, but the boards must be fixed!

We will of course begin with the obvious (checking lid signals), but I couldn't help but notice these three boards were all 32GB variants. Has anyone noticed an issue relating to these 32GB boards in particular? I of course don't think it's a RAM issue, but it's bizarre...

Panasonic plasma A boards/Kuro media box repair.
                  by Erik Masters
                  Hi all.

I have 2 Panasonic plasma A boards for ST50 50"/65" and Kuro KRP 500A media box which needs repair.
I'm not good enough at component repair so I need some help.
A boards and especially Kuro media box is still very valuable and I can't throw it away like some average Joe,lol

I'm from Europe/Slovakia and I'm searching for someone who is willing to repair these things or some tips at least.

Both A boards have HDMI issue either no signal or flickering.
And media box possibly with voltage regulator issue which is common...

Samsung PN50C540G3FXZA 50" Plasma, power cycling, Y-Main problem, Canada
                  by bcstedt
Just starting to crack into this one and wanted to get the ball rolling.

At power on (plug in), power light on, relays click, repeat (sometimes)

After disconnecting Y-Main from SMPS power stays on and boot up jingle is heard from speakers

Removed Y-Main for inspection and testing

Sceptre U550CV-UMR 4K LED, Bad Caps on Main Power Board?
                  by Dani_2024
Hi and thanks in advance for any input you might provide!
I have a Sceptre U550CV-UMRD8POTV83BB 4K LED (this is a dumb tv) that I bought new in August 2021, so It's just completed 3 years.
Main power board model: TP.MS3683.PC821 T-Con board: N4TP546UHDPU2L_BO

Last Sunday I was watching a dvd and fell asleep for about half hour, when I awoke the tv screen was black and couldn't get the dvd menu to show, so I changed the input to antenna and had sound but no picture, turned it off. I then got online and found this great site! ....read many troubleshooting tips and this...
