Re: Samsung Plasma PN50C550G1F : no image, but sound is ok
Sometimes loose screws can cause the boards to fail.
Check your new buffer board for shorts. Shorts in same area or different area?Leave a comment:

Re: Samsung Plasma PN50C550G1F : no image, but sound is ok
Did you fully secure all screws for the Y-main & Y-buffer board?
As for a scope, what's your budget? $50-60 can pick up a decent analog scope. $400 buys a new Rigol DS1054Z, one of the best value-for-money scopes currently available.Leave a comment:

Re: Samsung Plasma PN50C550G1F : no image, but sound is ok
Well pleasure didn't last ...
Tonight, for the first time since the TV is repaired, my boy plays is new game he received for christmas ... After about an hour of ply ... PAF...
No image again.
Same problem as last time.
Any idea what could cause this kind of recurrent problem?Leave a comment:

Re: Samsung Plasma PN50C550G1F : no image, but sound is ok
The top connector seems loose, so IO tried my old Ybuffer, but back to blank screen.
Then I reinstalled the new Ybuffer and again had trouble to secure the top connector ... but then "click!!!"
Turned On the TV ... et voila!
Back to life!!!
Yeah, 40CAD$ isn't too bad to fix that not so old plasma!
Thanks for your help everyone!
BTW Tom66, would you have a recommendation for a good, but cheap$$ scope?
This is a piece of equipment I'm missing and that could be usefull from time to time.Leave a comment:

Re: Samsung Plasma PN50C550G1F : no image, but sound is ok
I have replace the connectors.
The bottom section is now fine.
The top still have some lines.
When I play with it they "disapear" (lines are displayed properly).
The top connector is a bit loose and I can't get a good connection now.
Any ways to secure it?Leave a comment:

Re: Samsung Plasma PN50C550G1F : no image, but sound is ok
Well, I have installed the new Y-main (Y-sustain) and the new Y-buffer, and the screen is alive, but now I have some horizontal lines on the top portion of the screen (about 1/6 of the height).
Is that kind of problem typically related to one of the 6 connector of the Y buffer, or to the X-buffer?
If I install my old Y-sustain, do I risk damaging the "new" Y buffer?
Any recommendation?Leave a comment:

Thanks Tom66 for all your advice!
It is appreciated.

Re: Samsung Plasma PN50C550G1F : no image, but sound is ok
I can confirm that there no visible cracks on the screen...
The shorts were found on almost all connectors and at various locations.
Some had many shorts and other only a few.
I tried the 3rd and 4th pin from the left as shown in the video, but almost all pin had at least a short somewhere.
I'll give it a try with the y-buf/y-sustain replacement boards I talk about previously. They are sold by a small repair shop not too far from my place and are supposed to be garanteed to work (tested).
Probably worth the shot to try.
Thanks a lot for your support.

Re: Samsung Plasma PN50C550G1F : no image, but sound is ok
As long as there are no cracks (it can be a really tiny one, like just a few pixels, or on the very edge of the panel) you should be able to fix this TV by replacing the Y-buffer. Where were the shorts found, in various positions or just around a few connectors?Leave a comment:

The screen/glass seems flawless : no sign of crack/hailine/dent anywhereLeave a comment:

Re: Samsung Plasma PN50C550G1F : no image, but sound is ok
I removed the y-buffer and tested for shorts like shown in the video...
There're many detected by my multimeter, so I guess this isn't a good sign.Leave a comment:

Re: Samsung Plasma PN50C550G1F : no image, but sound is ok
Ok, it would be a good idea to check the Y- buffer board.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=51SZsfH60EY
Also, there are no cracks on the screen at all, right? Including really small ones. Any one can stop it working.
Screen look pristine ... So I doubt this would be the cause.
It would be visible from the front of the tv right?
Like if the glass would be broken?Leave a comment:

No, no need right now to check X-main.
Do you have an oscilloscope spare?Leave a comment:

by Francesc V.Hi:
This TV turns on and it can show picture for some seconds (sometimes minutes) then picture freezes and fades away. What I've seen so far is that the T-Con (BN41-021101A) starts with three leds on, but as soon as led3 turns off, just 12V and 3.3V (the bold ones) remains in the PCB but all others disappear.
If I remove the 2 bellow ribbons, LED2 never turns on. I was trying to look for the "T-CON ready" pin to shorten with 3.3V and then test just the TCON without the panel (haven't found it yet)
Not sure how to proceed here..............how can... -
by willis6732The customer of this TV Heard a pop sound before it went dead.
The VS and VA voltages turn on imediatly and then slowly die off.
I got a replacement Y-Board (Large board on the left) from aliexpress and still no luck
If tested all the IC chipson the board all the way on the left by running meter along the connectors and couldnt find any shorts there...
I think ive checked most the capacitors for shorts as well as most of the diodes and mosfet/transistors on the big boards.

by IerwinHello everyone,
Ive got a UE60KU6079 on the workbench that is giving me some headaches trying to troubleshoot.
The previous owner stated that there had been white dots on the screen which from the description sounded like some lenses fell of the backlight LEDs.
He had opened the TV from the back, trying to get to the backlight, supposedly gave up, reassebled everything and gave the TV to me.
I expected the worst like ripped COF cables or a cracked panel but could not find anything like that yet.
Anyway I still fully expect that there has been something seriously damaged... - Loading...
