I can't imagine how a faulty panel could do that

It does look like a possible failed panel. An on/off pattern like that has sometimes been seen. LVDS cable OK? Tried a factory reset using Menu 4-7-2-5?

            Re: Toshiba 32L502B

Maybe try a small bit of freezer spray on T-con and the main board?

                Re: Toshiba 32L502B

I had a non-intermittent issue similar to yours caused by a failed diode on the T-con board. TV has worked for my sister for over a year after this repair:

ok ill try the freeze spray i have also noticed that on some test points on the tcon board the voltages are not stable but all others on psu, main are fine could this be tcon related then ?

                    Re: Toshiba 32L502B

Yes it's possible, ones to watch out for are VGH and VGL (maybe VONE and VOFFE on some boards)

                      Re: Toshiba 32L502B

VGH is staying steading at 26.5 volts

its the other test points i have shown in the uploaded picture that are not staying steady, when the picture distorts the voltages drop

Can you try unplugging one panel ribbon at a time and seeing if the voltages do the same and if the screen flickers?

Try isolating T-con from main board. Whatever may be failing on T-con or panel may have shorted altogether. See if you get a backlight.
