Toshiba LCD 50L1350UC

As you can see in the video. You get 2 seconds of blurred picture then it goes back to normal followed by 2 seconds of blurred picture then back to normal etc.......

I can pretty much rule out bad panel as there dont seem to be any fixed lines. problem just started after turning on set one day. they just gave up on this tv and bought a new one!! Im leaning towards a Bad-TCON as it seems like a timing control issue.

Just wanted some thoughts from the pros here?? more then likely a bad T-con or a even a bad main board? seems very fixable!! was a free set for me, but im looking for "best guess" before spending any $$$$

Have you measured the voltage going to the LED panel?

Did you try reseating the LVDS cables to the T-CON?
Does it get worst after an hour or so?

Have not done so. What do you gather the voltage should be?

Yes I attempted reseating the 2 ribbon cables with no change.


I had a similar issue with a Samsung and a bad T-con was the problem.
Thinking bad T-con is just a gut feeling. The manufacture date on this panel is only 14 months old!! Yup, 2 months past warranty

It has two cables from the main board to the T-CON? This TV can do 120HZ so it may have another board for the Frame Rate Conversion (FRC).
So you can try new board to see what happen. You can also try cooling and heating to see if the problem gets worst or go away.

No it only has 1 cable from main board to Tcon. The other 2 attached to the Tcon are your classic ribbon style cables that travel to the panel

Appreciate your input BudM!! Like your thinking as well. A bad FRC is exactly what symptom the display is showing!! However, this panel only has 3 boards in it (pretty basic). Ps,tcon,and main input board. Unless the FRC board is hidden somewhere behind the panel ??


I did go ahead and order a known good Tcon from a reputable online dealer I've dealt with many times. $11.75 grand total!! Well worth the gamble. I'll post the results.

This can also be caused by a bad LCD panel.
In many TVs, FRC is on the main board or T-con, usually a separate processor with a heatsink and 1-2pcs DDR RAM chips.

The reason I asked what the voltage was . Is that I have an identical model that has no picture and the voltage I am getting is 79 volts to the panel and the board says 111 volts .
I am just trying to figure out if the voltage is too low or the panel is toast.

Hi. I know it's been a while since you posted this. I have the same problem with the same Toshiba model. I wonder if the issue was with the TCON board? Please let me know, it'll be hugely appreciated. Also, if you could PM me where you ordered the new board, that'd be just great.
